So i'm a little confused. Is there a time limit on each piece? or are we just supposed to come up with as many pieces as we can before the time limit?

You have one month to come up qith as much concept art as you can do. No time limit for each piece. Honestly I just need artwork. For the aspiring concept artist, think of this as a chance for a lot of exposure. ![]() __________________

Flash Gordon concept. i wanted to get away from the loin cloth wearing he-man. Give him more of a futuristic look, yet keep elements of the original. (I.E. The red uniform and the blaster.) I wanted him to look like someone who was stranded on a planet and had been in a fair number of fights. His clothes are ripped, and he's even got some scarring of his own. Photoshop, about 3 hours. |

Dale Arden Concept The original Dale Arden doesn't have much of a back story. She's just kind "there." It's clear that Flash was just intended to have a love interest but I thought in a more modern interpretation she would be just as not intelligent if not more than Flash is. She's more of an equal, no longer the damsel in distress figure. Thats why i dressed her in the same type of crew garb that flash wears, along with the same kind of body mesh exo-skeleton base that you can see under the rips in her clothing. Photoshop About 3.5 hours total. |

Flash Gordon
Sounds like a fun project - I recently worked on this as a concept designer & storyboard artist, which was also fun - you can see some of the design work & boards at my website : www.raviswami.com/blog (click on "Ardbeg") - I'm tempted to have a go myself - I remember watching the original series in the cinema as a kid on Saturday mornings...

Dr. Zarkov From what i've read, Dr. Zarkov was a brilliant scientist... but he goes steadily insane over the course of Flash Gordon's adventures. He still pulls moments of sanity out in a crisis, but for the most part he's your crazy mad scientist. Hence the bulging eye ball and bizarre hair-do. Althought part of that is his genetics. Photoshop 5 hours... didn't like my first version of him. So I started over, hence why it took longer. |

I always imagined Zarkoff as a chubby bloke, Making him thins a new one, makes him look madder, When I think Zarkoff I think Topol, that movie's just wormed it's way into my sub-conscious
