Concept Sketch: stylized leaves?

Close up.

Again, very, very rough concepts i'm doing here, i'm just playing around with the arrangement of leaves, and their design.

I think i'm gonna make the canopy thicker, but still easy to see without too much detail.

Concept Sketch: Composition Thumbs

Finally found some time to do a little work on this challenge. Here are a few quick composition thumbs. Basicly the viewer is suppose to be viewing the tree from below looking up, this goes for all three thumbs.

Personally I love the third one! The tree is the center focal point, the second are the stylized leaves, and third is the two trees in the distance to give it a sense of depth, and atmosphere.

What do you guys/gals think?

Concept Sketch: composition #3

This is the one I like!

The viewer in these compositions is looking up at the tree from it's base.

Concept Sketch: Final Composition, WIP

Finally I started the final composition, I was a little worried at first but it is coming along very well in my opinion. One or two more uploads and I should be ready to start the line Art and finally colour.

Any C & C?

Line Art: Line Art!

The line art is finally competed. I even started on the colour WIP. So far it is looking good.

I am even doing time lapsed screen captures of my colouring work so that I have the whole painting recorded from start to end.

Expect a colour piece by tonight.

Hey there Freewave. I really like that yellowish version a lot more which you have uploaded before your final lineart.

One reason is that if youre going to draw grass all over it. Youre dwarfing the tree. Specially if the grass and mushrooms look so big. Scale of the tree is coming down in a hurry!

Avoid them grass and plants to get so big to keep the tree massive. I also liked the tree more when it looked bit more machinery. Just like the one in that yellowish version!

Think of scale when you add stuff Great concept!

Falcor_: Good point, I was thinking the samething, I jsut wasn't sure if the piece was lossing it's impact. So thanks for mentioning it. I'm working on the colour right now, so i'll probably take out the grass and add something smaller jsut to give it some texture. But i'll keep an eye out for scale.

Also, regarding the mechanical components. I will probably add a few on teh branches rather then just leaves.

Coloring WIP: Colour WIP

Trying out brushes and textures, and this is what I have so far. I was happy at first, but might have over done it. I'm going to clean it up and adjust the colours another day, I need sleep. :P
