It is a very impressive work of art. good lighting, mood and all. It also reminds me Vault101 being submerged under the sea.

Great concept, beautifully realized! Congrats on winning first prize, and on making the front page. Well deserved.

Hi all,

Thank again for all the great comments, I never excepted such a tremendous response! As promised, here's a "making of" the creation of Octopus' Diner and a few close-ups. (Some mentionned they would like to be able to read the menu, so here it is.)

Elise Frappier, Valerie Villeneuve and I contributed to all the conceptualizing and designing tasks. I did the 3D (including some of the textures) with Valerie using Maya and Mental Ray, Elise did some textures and the matte painting using Photoshop CS4.

Note: we placed some 3D characters (invisible) in the scene to get the correct lighting influence.

Note: for the two characters, we did a photo shoot of me posing in a snow suit, then Valerie modeled and textured the helmets and Elise overlayed textures and painted additional leather gears and iron boots to make it look like a diving suit.
