Alien Creature Concept, Julian Jeremy Johnson-mortimer (3D)

Title: Alien Creature Concept
Name: Julian Jeremy Johnson-mortimer
Country: United Kingdom
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop, ZBrush

Hello there it's been a while since I've done some creature work, and a even longer time since I posted my work on cgtalk.

I recently had some free time. so I decided to do some quick character concepts.. this one is probably my favourite out on the 7 I made in the week.

I'll try to include the other concepts in this thread.

all the heads share the same base mesh and some of the same textures.

an animation can be viewed of the heads blending together, please excuse any mistakes in the animation as I had very little time.

Zbrush used for modelling Maya for setup MR for rendering.

thanks for looking any comments Welcome..

The first pic doesn't really do it for me....but holy mother of mystery the 2nd and 3rd pics (particularly the 2nd) look freaking insane!!! The shading on the 2nd pic is fantastic. Looks like a photo

Also one thing I've noticed in all 3 is that the eyes look great and full of life/character....nice attention to detail there.

I agree, the 2nd and third pics are amazing. Great job!

Looks great. Can we see a scene setup on the second image? The shadow on that one does make it look a little flat/composited rather than 3d.

WOW!!! Yeah i would have to agree, although I enjoy the first picture a lot, I think the 2nd and 3rd pictures looks the most realistic. Very Impressive work. Wires please? Also since this was made with ZBrush as well, could you post some screens of the high rez sculpt? Also, could you share the techniques used for the light setup?

Hey! I have some of you older works saved in my hard drive in my "inspiration" -folder (some eons ago) and wondered where are you now. Hah, and there you go!

I always admired your use of very natural light and textures. Your posing is also very good. I must say I liked the first one most because of its very interesting lighting.

Guss I'm diffrent from the rest.

I love the first one (ok not crazy about the body), the face & skin just look right for that character.
