Character: a 10 years old little girl

Here's May, the main character of my upcoming short. I know the hair is far from being perfect, but after hours and hours of tweaking, I got fed up and decided to let it go...

I am working on modeling a 10 year old girl too in cartoon style, yours look so good!! Nothing wrong with it from I can see about the hair.

i like her much, but there's something wrong with the eyes.
maybe the eyeballs are too small. i can see a gray area next to the eyeballs.
everything else looks pretty good.
the hair needs a specular map!!

good work!

Looks great, the hair too.

But there is definetly something wrong with the eyes:
A. The eyeball looks too small like it isn't filling the eye socket completly. Kid's eyeball's are about the same size as an adult's... that's why their eyes always look big.
B. The distance between the eyes is too big. The distance between eyeball and eyeball should be one eyeball long. I'm not sure if that measurement is also correct with children, but her eye's are definetly too far off.

I really love the piece of cloth in her hair, but it could use a specular map (or lower values if it already has one) and a bump map (or slightly higher values if it already has one)

Except for the eye problem, the rest is golden... The shape of her mouth and nose are great, and the curves of her neck are also great!

How did you do her hair?
Can we see a wireframe of her?

Very beautifull, i think just a simple bump map would fix the hair, which doesn't look that bad!

I think its very nice!

In fact there is some specular on the hair, but oddly, Vray seems to have a hard time handling multi-layered specular shading ... It renders correctly in the max scanline renderer though... I will try to fix it asap.

zzzrByte: The hair was done using Nurbs patches. It's a pain in the ass to manage with Max. Next time I plan to use polygons instead, they are a lot more flexible, and with the new UVW editor in Max5, UVs are not a problem anymore.
The eyes are manga style, so I guess I could deviate from the rules of thumb a little

NeonGuy: I have yet to apply a texture for the area surrounding the eyelids. That's why it looks so greyish.

Facial Deluxe: Hey guess what? We are about to have another round with Thomson

Zeb&Hiko: I am pretty lazzy when it comes to personal work, there's so many things to do in life! (like playing games and watching DVDs
