Robin Hood 'Memories' & 'Teaches Us', Redrover Studios (3D)

Title: Robin Hood 'Memories' & 'Teaches Us'
Name: Richard Rosenman
Country: Canada
Software: 3ds max After Effects combustion Photoshop VRay
Submitted: 21st September 2005

Robin Hood “Memories” and "Teaches Us" are two 30 second, fully computer animated spots created by Redrover Animation Studios Ltd. for Smuckers Canada, represented by Ogilvy & Mather Canada. The spots reveal two children named Andrew and Elizabeth who are being interviewed in a documentary style show about why they enjoy baking with their mom. The table shows various used baking utensils to suggest they have just finished baking muffins and the product, a rolled up bag of Robin Hood flour, rests nearby. The sunny afternoon setting fills the kitchen with a warm inviting sunlight and creates a visually engaging commercial that arouses immediate interest in the viewer. Currently, Andrew and Elizabeth are on the front page of the Robin Hood website (http://www.robinhood.ca).

These spots were created with Autodesk’s 3dsmax 6.0, rendered with Chaotic Dimension’s VRay 1.47.03 using modern global illumination lighting technology in combination with traditional computer graphics lighting techniques, composited with Autodesk’s Combustion 4.0 and edited with Avid’s Adrenaline. The depth of field was produced with my own Depth Of Field Generator PRO plugin.

WOW! Thats sodding excellent!
I really love the style here - its like claymation or something. Great work on the environment too. Amazing work on the facial expressions. Did you guys use morphs or something more advanced to give you such flexibility? Outstanding animation as well - damn, this thing is near perfect in my book! It mustve been excellent to work on something like this.

Those are the best quality commercials ive seen in months. Too bad we wont get them here in the UK...

May the frontpage be with you!

These are greeeaaaattt! Lovely characters! Can't fault them! The expressions on the 'Memories' commercial are wonderful! The bottom lip going on the little boy is brilliant!

These are incrrrrredibly cute characters! And beautifully built and rendered. The animation's just lovely...

The camcorder feel works well with these adverts too! They look like they're quite a feature of the Robin Hood website now, are there any more ads coming...?

FRoNTPaGe!!? Um... surely...?
