Smile

Mattmos : I assure you I really lost some hairs when doing this Some parts I thought easy were the most hard to do (and vice versa). For exemple the first shot with the farmer was pretty easy to animate but the shot when the chicken comes inside and show the paper to the others chickens was harder to find a nice timing .

HenningK : For the design and colors change of the farmer you are right it's a bit strange but I couldn't do it another way.
If I chose to always use the "close-shot design" (with the facial+different color for the head) it would take me longer to animate and because the background was pretty the same color than his skin in many shots his head would "disappearded".
And in the another hand if I used the silhouette version I would have some big problems in the close shots.
("I want to do 2d again" : yeah 2d rules :buttrock

Thank you poeple for all these really kind comments.

That was absolutely great!

Lovely style, I though the whole torn paper look was brilliant.
As said earlier, the Farmer changing style halfway through was a little strange and would maybe have been better silhoutted all the way through.
Fantastic all the same.

One of the most enjoyable shorts seen in al loooong time! Really awesomely great stuff!!! The style and the story; both just GREAT! I wonder; would you recomment using Combustion on this type of animation, or did you use Combustion only to get a challenge for youself?

Happy to see its plugged,

Gijs

my favorite part was when the waveform plucked the earplug out of the chicken's ear. That was awesome. The style was great...I couldn't figure out how on earth you got that look till I read you did it with vector paint. The movements are so clean it almost looks like cell-shaded 3d...but it still has the 2d personality. excellent work man.

Antropus : YEAH FRONTPAGE ! Thank you. I made a screenshot to remember this moment when I'll be grand'pa saying to my grand-childrens "This, this was when I was on frontpage on cgtalk when we used a keyboard and a mouse to draw things on a monitor" and my grand childrens thinking "what ? a key... keyboard ? Muahahahahahahah"

Doug nicola and squeeze : It's true there is not so much 2d animation on this forum. I had animated a little in 3d before this short but I wanted to experiment a little with 2d. Finally I learnt a lot in animation with this and many things I can easily transpose to 3d.

Dutchman : I used Combustion because
- I used it before for some projects as just a compositing program but I already played a little bit with the vector paint tool.
- I like how it works (It was pretty easy to do animation with it).
I continue to use it for CGpaints for exemple (many of the cg paints on my website are made with combustion).

M@ : Kiitos paljon !
Thanks a lot to all of you
