Zero Gravity, Kimmo Kaunela (3D)

Title: Zero Gravity
Name: Kimmo Kaunela
Country: Finland
Submitted: 25th February 2014

I wanted to create 80's space station. My inspiration sources were classic sci-fi movies like Space Odyssey, Alien, Star Wars etc...

Rendered real-time in Marmoset Toolbag 2. Post processing and color correction done in Photoshop. Final tris count was 114k. Scene is fully modular and uses 2k atlases. This project took 2 month to complete.

Great ! really wonderful scene. As soon as I've seen I wanted to ask if you had a realtime version and then I've seen you used marmoset
Im sure we will see a bright future for realtime renderers

Awesome piece! Glad to see more and more people making use of real-time renderers.

Thanks all! I used V-ray, Mental ray etc before and the one thing that I really hate all of them was the rendering times

Now when we have these very powerful graphics cards we can do some pretty awesome stuff in real-time. Making changes is fast and you can see final quality all the time. Quality is still better in offline rendering tho but I truly believe that for some people real-time renders will look good enough already and they will evolve better over time.

And here is the wires and as you can see it´s really low poly.

I want to thank all of you for the kind words! This means a lot to me and will drive me forward.

For over 6 years I´ve been doing a lot of 3d work so it´s very nice to hear that this time was not wasted. Now being a part of the awesome CG Choice Gallery: 3D and 3D total gallery is a huge honor.
