Hey.

Man this is very good! I cant believe how you got the atmosphere just right! I live just aroun the corner in fact, and I must say you got it totally right. The color render is awsome too. I like that even more. The empty city, that has been invaded by water.

You must have been there to catch the atmosphere right?

Very good! You need to make a collection of these pictures from different places as you say, and release a book with them or something!

Keep it up!

Thank you for all your positive comments!

So you say u live just around the corner? Lucky bastard I hate u

Yes I have been there several times myself, but only started working on it when I was not around. Wouldve been useful to just run out there to take some photos to see how things really are. I only had very few pictures and mostly reserved to google maps streetview to see the houses. Sometimes it was a real struggle! But I didnt want to cheat and wanted to be faithful to the origin as much as possible!

But thanks again indeed :-)

ohh and btw just answering two previous questions:

it took me about 6 months for only this one image...i think its just too much! i cant make myself to start on a new one from scratch after this hahaha. but of course it wasnt like 6 months of hardcore work. but all together the work was continuous so i didnt miss out weeks or anything like that. I was working on it more or less every day a little bit. (sometimes a lot ...)

and no i havent known scott mutter before! but thanks for letting me know! inspiring work indeed! thank you for the tip!

Hey, wonderful work indeed. Great modeling as well as rendering. I would like to ask you a question, it is related to your composition: How do you manage to merge a render with a sky in such a great way. I've been trying it a lot, and I just don't get even near results.

Great work one more time

Lighting

Hi, awesome work! can I ask what lighting did you use ? Im using Maya and Mental Ray instead of 3D Max and VRay but I think principe would be similar..

Old 05 May 2012   #54
I used a dome light! Only that. With an HDRI image in the diffuse slot. very basic!

Would you like your work published in 3D World magazine?

Hi Viktor
We would very much like to include your work in the magazine (3D World) but have no way of contacting you to give more information.

Could you please email me at: robbowen (at) sky.com

Many thanks!

Rob

I loved it, thats why i spent minutes just staring at it!
but... maybe you should rethink the cars? unless they have huge wheels? kinda destroys the illusion of depth of the water to need a boat
