Yes.I first have the Einstein with tattoo concept, and then I tried to find the reference, it is the good reference for me. I try to make the Einstein pose different, but finally I realize it is the best way to make the pose similar. it is the traditional Japanese moto flashmobs

i am not a maya user, only xsi or max so i cant describe how to output the sss layers inside maya (but you have an framebuffer output sss shader inside mr, dont know if its available in maya).
if you take a look on tony reynolds shadertree for example and rebuild it you should be able to output the different sss layer as framebuffers (i think maya is able to do it).
