Looks like shot from "Everything above else" by Alex Roman.
Cool anyway
Old 08 August 2011   #19
Wow, perfect! Do you have some larger resolution?
Old 08 August 2011   #20
Thanks a lot guys! Im glad that you like it Sadly, i don't have it in higher resolution, because i didn't planned, to upload it here. Maybe i will do the final touches again on higher-res render (1536x???) and i'll post it here.

Yes, Alex Roman's shot "Above everything else" was my main inspiration and reference for lighting effects, and materials.

Again, thanks a lot guys for your feedback and nice comments and BIG THANKS for CG Choice Award!

The award is just obvious Beautiful artwork. I would also be very happy to see larger images. Besides that can you tell me how much time the renders took? Did you render on one machine or many with spawner?
Old 08 August 2011   #22
Hi, RT was circa 20-30 min. on each one. I have only one (and a bit old) PC / Q6600,8Gb RAM, Nv 9800GT (512)... I will take my time to finish bigger res pics, i will post it here soon.
Thanks for a nice comment!

I have a very big esteem for those people, that while experimenting they make such scenes/illustration frames. It is very inspirational. When I see such simple, but very interesting objects with such materials - I want to make something like that myself!

One of the greatest experiments. GREAT!

very nice and interesting. the crystals look really sweet. I have a question if you don't mind me asking. Are you referring the translucency in the Vray Mtl or it is own separate shader, because i could never make the translucency work in the vray mtl
