Lighting: Lighting the scene

Just one direct to serve as the sun and some omnis to fake global illumination. I did not use real GI because displacement + GI = Enormous render times. Some omnis inside the model give a little blue and green light coming from within

Texturing: Texturing the background

Displacement maps are beautiful :) I did not move a single vertex of the sphere to which I applied the maps.

Post Effects and Compositing: 90% complete

Some post in PS now. I still need to add some minor islands to the background and some effects to the water. Almost done!!!

I have painted so far the BG and added some layers of clouds. There are two moons on the back... one of them is almost invisible. Oh well, I know its there :)

Final Image: The Water Generators

Ok, some notes here. The post process was made in Photoshop, the background was 50% hand painted and 50% with photographs (such as the planets or moons). I added a lot of tiny details such as little branches through the bushes and the fading of the waterfalls as they go down (the water itself was rendered in 3d). I also added the haze and some color correcting on the islands (they were too yellow).

Something I am proud of here (and failed to mention in the texturing part) is that in the color, bump and displacement maps for the terrain I painted the river from scratch, I had never done something like that before and I think it looks pretty well. I had to edit time and time again the displacement map to get it to look right.

Well this is it, my final entry. Good luck to you all. Hope you like my image, if you do pls drop a line right here.
