(for eample if batman was our idea)

1 of us could create batman and texture him, the 2nd member create the "batmobile" and the 3rd member creates the bat cave.

is this ok as long as we each work on our own models individually
and the only team effort is making the concepts all relavent to one another.

each individual? that is OK. submit separately.

I cant model good, but I can draw, so is this the right spot for 2d concept art?

there is a separate challenge for concept art. look for the "2D" challenge.

i have a question regarding the normal maps, etc. If we decide to use them, do they have to fall within the (2) 512 x 512 constraints? or can we have them in addition to those two base sheets?

normal maps, bump, spec, etc are all 512x512 IN ADDITION to the base two 512x512 maps

we judge the comp based on aesthetics, originality, technical prowess [cleanliness of the mesh]

only one submission can be judged...so if a person created all three, he/she would need to choose one for final judging. this keeps it fair for all involved.

render out normal mapping using the method of you software package of choice. we are not looking for in-game screenshots.

the vehicle can be anything that a character can ride... vehicle can be defined as: "A device or structure for transporting persons or things" ...it is up to you to take it from there

You don't need to worry yourself about that, take your mind off the prizes and enjoy the "challenge" not competition "challenge" there's a reason why I don't announce the prizes until either late in the challenge or until the awards go up. It's not about that, so just enjoy yourself and learn, we'll handle the rest.

Is it ok to use some old concept art that I have done or does the idea have to be completely new?

I'm not worrying about the price, far from it, I'm just considering creating a character + Vehicle ... etc. But I'm still feeling confused about it ...
From what bentllama just wrote :
"only one submission can be judged...so if a person created all three, he/she would need to choose one for final judging. this keeps it fair for all involved."
So Why should we create more than 1 then ? ... except for the fun of it of course

Hi,

I'm working in a character for the Cinematic Game icons challenge, but I have one question: Is there any problem if one friend of mine models my character for the Game Art design challenge?
