So, I am interested in creating a python script that allows a user to pick from different predefined buildings that I have made, which are made up into pieces. This way it gives the user to choose how many windows and how many floors the building should have etc. My thoughts for giving the user a preview of what the default building looks like, would be to have a thumbnail preview of the building which would import the building of choice. However, I cannot seem to think how I could display all of the thumbnails in one shot, since I am only aware of Blender is not able to display thumbnails, not alone multiple thumbnails, in any of the panels. Is this correct?

Hello everybody,

i am a new blender user (it's been a couple of months though), and i would like to animate a texture change for specific faces of a mesh.

I tried using shape keys but it seems that shape keys are only for the shape of the mesh and not the textures.

I tried also through creation of a new material and assigning it to the faces i target and then creating the texture i wanna add to the faces but this method affects the keys previously generated for my animation which i don't want

Can you please help me on this ? I've been stuck with it for days now!

Hi everybody,

I just have installed blender 2.66 on my pc. It is a 3 GHz Quatcore, with Windows 7.
Everything runs good as usual. I only can't save blend - files where I want to. Saving in the tmp - file works. Saving on other adresses brings an error as you see on the attachment. This also happend with version 266a 32 and 64 bit . After some hours of tests I don't have any solution any more. Maybe someone can help?

Hi all!

I have a rigged and skinned mesh, animated using its armature. I export this animation to multiple OBJ files, and then load these files in my engine. To fill the gaps between frames, I use linear interpolation on the mesh vertices (and normals). Unfortunately, this produces some strange artifacts. More specifically, it looks like some neighboring vertices swap positions during the animation. Does anyone know why this happens and / or how it can be fixed? Also, if you are aware of any better ways to do this, I'd be very interested in knowing. Note that I have also tried this (exporting animation to multiple OBJ files) with non-skeletal animations of relatively complex meshes, and it works fine.

You can find the relevant blend file along with a video demonstrating the problem here.

Thanks in advance for any useful input!

P.S. The options I use in the OBJ exporter are the following:

* Selection Only
* Animation
* Apply Modifiers
* Include Normals
* Write Materials
* Triangulate Faces
* Keep Vertex Order (tried both with and without it - nothing changes)

Oh, and I use Blender 2.66.1 r55078

I'm mapping materials to a fence today: https://www.box.com/s/uvde7pnx6uejd7grfkmt

I have a diffuse wood texture, along with specularity map, and a displacement map, also a normal map which I don't know how to use. I could wire up a Tex Coords node to an image node, load the normal map into it, connect it to the normal map node but then I don't know where to connect that to.

The three image texture nodes from top to bottom are diffuse, specularity, then displacement. Did I wire them up correctly?

Thanks
Hey guys, i have a fully rigged and animated character, yay!

But when i try to make the animations work using logic bricks, Eg. w to move the character. it screws up, basically i have an idle animation and a walking animation, i want the idle animation to play whenever the walking animation isnt, so i made the idle animation an always actuator and the movement a keyboard sensor. but when i played in game, it played the idle animation, then i pressed w and it played the move animation, but when i released the w key it didnt return back to the idle animation. I heard about states" fixing this, but can anyone explain how i could fix this, thank yu

Hi all,

Please see the Nodes setup below. As you can see by looking at the render, the Glossy Node is affecting the whole tree, as oppose to using the specular map and affect only what's found in the specular map.

The node setup below is the same except it has a Mapping node just before the Image Texture nodes.

Btw, the above material is one of two materials in a multi material.

This is what my spec map looks like (above).

This is what my texture map looks like (above).
Those red spots under the leafes are the areas I want to add the spec on. The spec map is not for the 3d apples (red spheres). They have their own separate material.

Btw, I am following a tutorial from Andrew Price, The Secrets of Realistic Texturing. The thing with his example, is he's using a diff type of unwrapping: Project from view (Bounds).
It seems that's the only main difference.

Thanks in advance guys,
This problem is simple, but hard to find a solution for.
I've searched trough Google for an answer, and stopped here to simply ask.

The 3D view won't update the 3D objects.
I simply enter Edit Mode, moves a vector. Goes back to Object Mode, and the object "resets" back to it's previous state. I can go back into Edit Mode and still see that it's edited, and I can edit it more. But when I go back to Object Mode, it's still the same before I edited it.

This happened suddenly, so I could have accidentally pressed a "secret" button. I have a weak memory of this happening years before. So I can't remember anything about it.

This only affects a single object, but I can't find a setting in the Preferences-panel for this.I've even tried to use the Separate-function and joining with a working object, but this "state" is preserved and merges with the new.
