Hi, my name is Nick Rodriguez. I'm looking to put together a think tank of passionate game developers of all different fields. As a group, we would design, develop, and sell video games and video game technology for various platforms. My goal is to bring a group of self-motivated developers together to produce great products that we as well as gamers would love to play. I do have some ideas for beginning projects, but I would like to make any initial concept decisions as a team.

I am an experienced programmer in C++ and C#. I have experience with DirectX, SDL, TGE, and XNA. I'm also a talented concept artist and 3D modeler. I have knowledge of Photoshop, Corel Painter, and Lightwave3D. I do have experience with designing and developing 2D game engines as well as game development tools. Though I am passionate about both art and programming, my main love is the design of fun and exciting games.

At this time, here are the positions I'm looking for to join the think tank:

Concept Artist - experience with Photoshop/Painter, strong foundation in the traditional arts (figure drawing, landscape painting, and illustration)

Programmer - knowledge of C++ or C#/XNA, experience with an API (preferably DirectX/OpenGL), understanding of game programming logic

Music Composer - experience with a musical instrument, ability to write original compositions and to create music for various moods or genres

Sound Engineer - ability to create realistic sound effects

Game Designer - experience with designing games, strong creativity, understanding of the game design process, basic understanding of programming and art fundamentals

3D Artist - fluent in 3DS Max, Maya, or Lightwave3D, knowledge of photoshop, ability to model, texture, or animate high-poly models, ability to translate concepts or reference materials into 3D game content, knowledge of Zbrush or Mudbox is a plus

2D Artist - knowledge of Photoshop or other powerful raster-based application, ability to create realistic pixel art, ability to create sprites, tiles, backgrounds, or textures for 2D or 3D games

Web Developer/Designer - proficiency in XHTML, CSS, and maybe JavaScript, knowledge of web design fundamentals, ability to produce mock-ups and write HTML/JavaScript/CSS from scratch

If you're interested in joining the team or have questions, please email me at nickrodriguez13@live.com.

Rather than launching a predefined project and dictating the development process, my idea is to form a group of talented developers who will democratically produce a game from initial brainstorming and conception to finished product and launch. I have a few ideas for game concepts, but I would like to open up this important decision to the development team. So, what I am looking for are motivated people who are willing to give their expertise and a fraction of their time to a think tank of game developers for the purpose of creating extraordinary games that we all can be proud of and enjoy. I am not necessarily looking for highly experience members, since the overall purpose of this think tank is to learn and grow together.

Looking For:
3D Artists
Concept Artist
Graphic Designers
Web Designers
Hello everybody
I'm not here to propose you to make the new "Avatar", but I think that we could do a nice work together.
My name is Benoit, I'm french and I'm in charge of production in a 2d/3D studio in France.
I was CG Artist, but I decided to share my experience to help in production organisation.
I'm here today to speak about my project I developed these 3 last years in my spare time.
I acquired the experience to lead this kind of project.
I join a few artworks and a link to 2D animatic. The scenaristic universe and the scenario is already written
Today I would like to start the preproduction phase.
-Completion of the storyboard
-2D Animatic
-Artworks sets + characters
-Blueprints
I'm looking for passionate and competent people to join me in this (crazy) project where everyone could share his experience and expertise.
I have no time constraints but I am looking for a professional quality. The goal is not to let this project into oblivion, if you see what I mean
In order to not pollute the topic, I will give any information to interested people. So don't to contact me by email or PM, or Skype (heavy_bolter; France) and I will give you all the necessary information and a further presentation of the project.
Pre-note: Most of the info in the post below can be found on our website at http://www.divine-game.com/

If you've browsed any game dev boards for more than a day, you see your fair share of "I WANT TO MAKE AN MMO" and then the "YOU CAN'T ITS TOO HARD." So and so took 4 years with a full team.

We plan to change up that formula a bit. Project Divine is essentially a contentless MMO/Online-RPG based on the tagline “The most fun 5 levels you’ll ever gain.” Because it is indie-developed with very little funding, we’ll be using a “minimal-content” approach. Rather than focus on creating a full commercial game as most indie teams do (and fail), we’ll focus on creating an incredibly short, but fulfilling and feature-rich experience. In simple terms, the project only includes content for levels 20-25, giving players a good idea of what the game would be like were it a full game, but at the same time, saving massive amounts of development time that would be spent generating art assets for the other ~80 levels. The main goal of Project Divine is to have players finish the content we do provide and wish that there was more.

At this stage in development, most features are design goals, rather than planned features. Until we have our first gameplay video released, the easiest way to describe the game would be a mix between Diablo ( loot, multiplayer, character progression, etc), an MMO (multiple roles, extensive dungeons/boss fights), and Bastion (action combat rather than just click enemies)

Here's some of our design goals:

Unique, fluid combat system. No simple ‘hold down mouse button until dead; repeat’. Each consecutive mouse click performs part of a combo. Enemies also cast area of effect or power attacks that can be evaded.

Deep character customization on multiple levels, such as stats, skills, perks, etc, not “hit level 10, unlock X”.

Rewarding gameplay with constant improvement (frequent leveling), not “Do 100 quests to gain 1 skill point”

Give players a reason to repeat content outside of “This boss drops X and I need that.”

Multiple hordes of enemies at a time (a’la Diablo), not “only pull 1 mob at a time”

Revolutionized “holy trinity” of roles, including manually targeted and position-based healing/tanking, not just “click target frame, push Heal”

MMO-style dungeons and instances, including unique boss-fights that require multiple roles and proper positioning, not “face-tank and spam attack”

Battleground/Objective style PvP, not “simple duels”

Recreate magic of “OMG UNIQUE DROP” and “Trading Perf Hydra for 5 SoJs”, not “Paying 10k gold or $10 for X,Y,Z attributes”

Merge MMO-style community with lobby-driven games

Team Structure

Outside a temporary freelance programmer working on a quick gameplay prototype for us, it's just me currently. For reference, I do have a Comp. Sci. degree and know a fair bit of programming, but definitely nothing game related as I mainly do Microsoft scripting and .NET for my career. With that said though, I assure you it's nice to have a project manager who can semi-understand what you're doing 95% of the time.

Talent Needed

Creative Designer (Hobbyist only):

While I'll be handling most of the production and systems design, I'm terrible when it comes to the creative aspect. This spot would be filled by someone who has extensively played similar game-types and has experience doing creative design, including story-line and universe shaping. Experience in Art Direction is also a plus.

Programming (Hobbyist/Freelancer):

Project Divine is a UDK based project, meaning Unrealscript is the language of choice here. Experience with UDK is obviously a plus, however, it is fairly similar to C++, so if you have prior experience with any game engine, you'll likely pick this up extremely quickly. Networking or AI skills are a plus, but not at all requires.

Art Director (Hobbyist):

In a semi-permanent position like this, freelancing obviously doesn't work, but I may be willing to dish out a bit of funding for this considering the importance of this. I'd prefer it be filled by a 2D artist willing to consistently contribute. I have horrible eyes for art, so this position is primarily to ensure that as things become more developed, we stay consistent in our art direction via accurate prompts and descriptions.

Concept/2D Artist (Hobbyist/Freelancer):

One of our biggest needs currently is to define and shape the world Project Divine will be taking place in. This position is fairly open in direction and you'll not necessarily have specific prompts starting out (essentially, draw whatever you want), so being able to create on your own is a plus. As time passes and the direction is defined, prompts will grow more and more common.

3D Environment and/or Character Artist (Hobbyist/Freelancer, not immediate need):

Since we are in the early stages, there's not really enough detail or concepts to make it worthwhile to begin 3D art at this time. We do have a few weapon concepts that I wouldn't mind having started, but this is far from an immediate need. In simpler terms, I'm mostly only interested in extremely skilled hobbyists at this point just to fill the void. More funding will be applied to this as we flesh more and more out. I may make special exceptions.

Contact Method

Skype - CThomlison
E-mail - CThomlison@gmail.com

Compensation Plan

In some exceptional cases, I am willing to pay for work at indie (or less!) wages. Note, this is personally funded, not commercially. I'm always up for work/quote discussion, so feel free to contact me in any case.

As for hobbyists, everyone puts "you get money when game is released", but that never happens. You're probably not going to make money from this, but in the case that we happen to shake the foundations of the world, we'll figure it out when that stage gets closer.

Last Words
Again, our website can be found at http://www.divine-game.com. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Hello there! My name is Justin and I am an indie game developer. I'm planning on doing a game for a game jam. I am looking for an artist that would enjoy working on a game over the course of a week. This would be a small project (due to the time scale), as it's a 7 day game jam that takes place later this month. The jam is themed around fishing!

Now this is just a fun project, and not a very big commitment at all. As such this is unpaid, for everyone, even me. I'm just looking for someone that would like to have some fun, develop a game, and if it interests them, throw it into their portfolio of completed work.

If this interests you, send me a message and I'll get back to you with more details, specifically about what I had in mind for the project. Thanks!

Hello,

About a year ago, a team of artists that I found here on "Collaborative Team Projects" began work on a one minute action short, called "For Hire". It's a sort of steam-punk, post-apocolyptic, western shoot-out against remote controlled drones (CG, of course). I'll attach some pics as reference, if there is any interest.

Things were moving along and then the team sort of slowly drifted apart due to work and personal lives.

But now I'm hoping to build a team again. We previously made some good headway and are at the point where we are looking for Animators, Compositors, and Lighters (or anyone who can do all of the above).

The CG Drones have been modeled and rig, most of the shots have been tracked, Drone placements has been determined, muzzle flashes, bullet hits, smoke, explosion, and all other necessary elements already exist.

Hi,

we are starting preparations for another ANOMALIA short film and we eventually came to an idea that some of you may be also interested in joining our collaboration and helping us out.

WILDLIFE CROSSING is a short film but also a Work and Study experience for animators that will be supervised by Anthony Wong from PIXAR this September 2013 as part of a summer training event held every year in Litomysl, Czech Republic, with top experts from the industry (Keith Lango - VALVE, Andy Schmidt - PIXAR, Rich Quade - PIXAR, Josh Carey - REEL FX, Isaac Kerlow - formerly DISNEY, and Anthony Wong - PIXAR ... more at www.anomalia.eu ).

Character rigging will be provided by RiggingDoJo.com as part of their online course on production training under the guidance of a rigging master Josh Carey from REEL FX. He will rig the main character himself. This is a very unique collaboration.

ANOMALIA is a non-profit platform for 3D animation training and networking in Central Europe. ANOMALIA LABS 1st animated short film Booty Call, animated last year in 10 days as a Work and Study experience for 16 animators from Europe and Kenny Roy, a director and mentor from LA can be seen at https://vimeo.com/59657957

If you are interested in joining our collaborative effort, if you are a modeller (Maya, Zbrush), Maya dynamics artists, .. if you would like to suggest your skills and strong motivation to place your effort into a collaborative short film, please, send us an email and your reel to team@anomalia.eu

You can watch out short film Booty Call, Anomalia documentary and some bahind the scenes, as well as Anthony Wong speaking of the new short Wilflife Crossing at http://labs.anomalia.eu/

Hello artists,

Ennoble Studios is a perspective indie game making team dedicated to bringing you fun, high-octane gameplay games in image of old school games developed with latest technology. Ennoble Studios is a firm believer in PC platform, but also in values of gameplay and game design that brought us here as gamers. Ennoble is also a believer in real artistry of gaming as a medium. Through vision in quality of work instead of bare sufficiency, through depth, insight and worth of your time Ennoble will in the future bring you games to best of their technical abilities.

www.ennoble-studios.com

A few months ago I started creating a game in Unity engine, a vertical scrolling shoot-em-up (aka shmup) of euro style that we rarely see these days. Being a lone developer, I started a relatively small project that would be fun, manageable and completable. Some of the influences are: Aero Fighters, Giga Wing, Espgaluda, R-Type Delta, Raiden, more recent Jamestown and mostly DoDonPachi and Ikaruga. Target platforms would be Windows, Mac & Linux.

The goal is to create a game which will be really fun to play, challenging, but at the same time in a modern package that is sure to impress with art style. Games like this aren't seen often these days, and this game is going to be no-nonsense, no-gimmicks, full-blown visual & audio art coupled with fast-paced gameplay.

Here is how the game looks so far:
EnnobleStudios - YouTube
Psichodelya Windows, Mac, Linux game - Indie DB

The above is the concept art that will be used to create one of the in game bosses. What I would require is for an artist to create a 3D model based on that concept. Made by our artist David Kopnicky.

What I'm looking for:
• 3D artist for a few enemy ship models - described below.
• 2D artist for scrolling backgrounds. If nice 3D backgrounds could be made, that would work too.

The base coding is mostly done. That means:
• Game mechanics for 1 or 2 players
• Controls for two independent players on KB or Gamepad.
• Main menu functions. Options screen, ship choosing, scoreboard etc.
• HUD design and logic.
• Player and enemy states and logic.
• Saving data to disk and of options.
• Also the site is completed, designed and coded 100% by me
• 7 levels are designed, and all that remains is a bit of balancing / polishing of the design.
Etc.

What remains:
• I have created a couple of models myself, and I feel they aren't too bad. However, I would need help with creating more models, texturing existing ones and adding poly / reworking them if possible. The models are extremely simple, as you can see in the videos the perspective does not require very detailed models. To be exact, I'd need at very least 5 more small ship textured models and 7 bigger models that would be used for unique bosses.
• Create backgrounds. The game is made so far not to require any special interaction of player with the background, so a simple long 2D texture will do; however, if you're better at 3D and have a lot of time that would work too. I have 7 levels, each ~5 mins long, and I was hoping not to have to resort to one simple repeatable texture (of course, some parts will be repeatable).

The above is what I need help with. If there is any doubt about the style, storyline or similar take a look at these two games:
Ikaruga - this is what I'd like to have:
Ikaruga - No Continues - Part 1 - YouTube
DoDonpachi for a more "military" style, watch the bosses:
Dodonpachi Playthrough - YouTube

If you're interested how it plays, I can send you a playable demo level.

Expecting your PMs, emails at pcbastion at gmail dot com, or add on skype gru.ennoble

Best regards,
Hello dear CGSociety Community! I am Benjamin Piñeros, an independent Filmmaker and 3D artist.

I have spent 5 years creating 3D characters, environments and assets for my first film, Servicios Públicos. (www.estamosobservando.com) The film is a Sci-Fi dystopia that mixes live actors with Computer Generated sets and Characters. The film is intended for an A list Festival Run.

I am in desperate need for talented 2D and 3D illustrators/compositors that can help me out with Matte Painting work.

I decided to make this call to arms hoping that some of the artists I most admire (yeah, that means YOU) will want to adhere to the project. My plan is to give one or two shots per Artist. (whatever you can handle)

Pay will come from an upcoming Kickstarter campaign, plus royalties from the film.
Status:
The game is currently a playable beta; the programmers in our project move extremely fast and have coded the basic gameplay (melee combat, firearms, basic gamemodes, networking, etc). It's at the point where we have all this code and lacking art to fill it. Up until now, the artwork has been done by two artists, including myself; one of those artists is unavailable for awhile, so now that leaves just me to continue the work. It's going to take more than my effort alone, so I'm looking for atleast 2 additional artists to join the project.
