Hello guys, I have been learning Maya for 1,5 years and I'm 18. Last year I made an animation and now I have my second animation which is more professional than the first one. It took 7 months to prepare it. Every model in my animation belongs to me. I want you to criticise my animation with both good aspects and bad aspects.

This is my first animation (If you want you can only watch the second animation)(Took 1,5 month to prepare it)

This shows how I made our animation (actually the models) (start the video from 1.07)(The 2. person that you see in this movie help me to find musics, and combine the render pictures.)
Are there any users of Maya's Animate/Scene_Time_Warp, I have a question.

Once I have enabled Scene_Time_Warp is there any way to apply that scene timing curve to the original scene. I don't want to bake all curves out I just want to adjust the original key frames of my characters and so they reflect the adjustments I made using the Scene_Time_Warp curve and remove the scene timing curve.

I sure hope it can be done, this would be a great feature.

So I exported a C4D scene to an Alembic, and imported into Maya.. namely for these curves, which are somehow growing across the screen with no input/output/history, no idea how it works, but it does, and that's great, I extruded polys down them as needed and have my scene working as it should..

But I want to render it on my home machine too as the bloody macs at work can barely handle their own operating systems, but I seem to be having some trouble.

Now I have never use Alembics before and am never sure how to see just what the hell is going on behind the scenes in Maya, the hypergraph never makes much sense to me with these things, but I don't see any file references, so I assumed the data is just in my scene file..
I copied the project directory over to Dropbox and have set the project on my PC, only to find that anything I imported from the Alembic, exists now only as nulls within the outliner, no geometry, but more importantly, those curves are gone.

This is after setting the project to the directory in my Dropbox from the Mac, and actually saving the scene there properly, and making sure all other folders in the project have been copied over..
I even tried copying the original Alembic and C4D files over and putting them in the correct directory names in relation to the location of the project, though of course drive names and higher directory names are different.
I mean how far should I have to take this? If renaming my drives will make the file work, OK, I'll do it, but not as a likely to be unsuccessful experiment when there must be a far easier solution.. would anyone happen to know what that is?

Cheers! =)

Is there a way to set the modeling toolkits axis to the normal average of my selection, like in the regular maya tools? Like a hidden hotkey or something? I can only find the set custom axis option in the marking menu of the toolkit, and that seems cumbersome to set all the time.

edit: or even get my custom pivot to tag along with my selection, like when in object mode. Now it stays in place.

I know there are many tutorials scattered all over the internet in regards to Vray and glass but NONE of them can fix my transparency issue. I follow them exactly and every time I render I cannot see my character on the other side of the glass, it just renders black. Ive set diffuse to black, reflection/refraction to white, fresnel IOR to 1.4, afftect shadows is ticked, affect all channels ticked. I also went into the Vray global render settings and enabled GI and also caustics and still it renders black. It even looks like glass in hypershade so I have no idea what im doing wrong here...its as if light is blocked from passing through.

Anyone else experienced this before?

Hello,

I am currently modelling my a human and I have come across a problem. I am unable to remove the smooth from the poly. Shown is images better demonstrates the problem.

http://i.imgur.com/nPrXdcM.png - Shown in the MEL command response you can see I set smoothness to 1 to which there is still an obvious smooth effect shown under the arm.

http://i.imgur.com/dy2YAUe.png - Smooth set to 3 to demonstrate intended smooth.

http://i.imgur.com/Q5pSz1x.png - Using MEL to set the smooth to 0 without the intended result.

http://i.imgur.com/0stHd0N.png - Shown is an older version where smooth is working as intended (turned off).

If anyone knows how I can remove the smooth on the poly or has advice I would be thankful.
