Hi

Well , I have a model with tree branch and the pointcloud that simulates leaves (instance Shape) on the branch, then I instantiated multiple copies of this model , and I can see that all of the instances have the leaves simulated on them , but at the time of rendering they dont appear , but the are clearly in the viewport , so if someone knows how to fix this, or if is just that it cant be done , I will really appreciate the help,

thank you in advance.

Ps: It works when the particle shape is one of the default one(point, cones, rectangle....etc) but not with instance shape

Hey guys,
Just trying to create stadium crowd effect. I'm very nubie in Softimage, so maybe my question will very stuped . Sorry about it.
I'm doing tutorial from Autodesk website
http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/marks/softimage_2013
I'm stuck when Mark imports another model in to the scene. I've exported a default Pedestrian as model and I've changed the characters material colors. But when I'm trying to import it into the scene and use it in a ICE crowd FX all colors of material are gone. I've tested to export the Pedestrian without changing material color but it happens again. I think ICE is looking for some materials and can't find it.

So, Im running this fluid sim using lagoa and while for the most part the simulation looks ok, when the particles fall they look like they are moving in slow motion? They are not falling as fast as you would expect. Any idea what would cause that/which parameter affects this?
Thanks for any help!
Hi
Hope everyone is doing well,
So i am pretty new to ice (came from particle flow (1 core woes) and i am trying to get the particles to be attracted/repelled from other particles depending on what state they are in.
So particles in state 1 are attracted to particle in state 2 but stay away from particles in state 3 for example.
I have tried to use the get neighbouring particles by state but cant seem to plug it anywhere into the neighbouring particle force, am i completely missing something, should i be plugging it into something between the two?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
loving ice so far :-)
cheers

I am using ice particles to instance some objects, i setup the ice tree as instructed in the help docs, ie, got the particle emitter working, instancer hooked up, RBD on creation set, bullet solver hooked up. Everything seems to work, until i try to collide the instances against animating colliders, then the bullet solver simply fails, with my pieces falling through the collider. I tried cranking substeps to astronomical levels and set bullet precision to 600, but to no avail (there is SOME improvement at higher precision, but not much). The solver simply breaks down when my collider starts moving.

The setup is a coffee can falling over on its side, its modeled in real world scale. Its not moving terribly fast.

I tried hooking up straight ICE particles using the bounce node and that works fine, its just the RBD solver seems to be inadequate in this case??

The coffe can has a collider shape that is parented to the main null, the collider is a cylinder primitive, with its top surface disabled, i also applied a thicken OP to give the walls some volume. I am using actual geometry checkbox on the the collision settings for the cylinder shape... its just not working out.

any suggestions would be appreciated. feeling a little dissapointed with XSI at the moment, I was expecting a little more, in terms of bullet performance.
not sure if this is relevant, but the scene was intially setup in MAYA and then exported using maya to xsi connection.
Hello Guys,
I started a simple grass system using strands and segments as a particle type.
Everything runs fine in "User Viewport", but when I change the view to any camera pass a get this weird look on grass.

If I get box or cilinder in particle type in "Emit from Geometry" node everything goes fine again.
But I'd like to use "Segment" because I'll need a lot of grass and a smarter render.

Does anybody know what is it and what I could do to fix it?

Thanks!
... except from the first frame. There the mesh moves, but then it stands still.

I don't get it. The rig should be able to deform more than one object?! Actually it does already deform two objects, although the second object is a copy of the first one.

The mesh (which doesn't deform) got envelopes, a static_kinestate, so why doesn't it get deformed always, only on the first frame (the first frame when the play button gets pressed)?

I can't see a difference between what I did with the first mesh which does deform and this one. The envelope operator is enabled, so I don't get it. Is there somewhere a button which needs to be enabled ("deform on every frame")?

My rig is based on nulls, deformed with ICE. The rig gets deformed in the simulation stack.

Anybody who can help? I'm really frustrated, as I need to finish this project instantly.

Thanks for any advice or tip!!!
edit.. I suppose is working as intended, but it would be nice if in the next version It would be added in the softimage users guide that freeze also removes the ICE Tree (my mistake, I didnt thought it was an operator). This is driving me crazy... im doing a traffic light and in order to set it, I created a null arrow so the arrow will point to the light I need on (red, yellow or green). After some trouble with ICE (im novice at it), I used a box null, so the light bulb geometry will test if the null touches him, and if its true, the light bulb geometry material incandescence will be on. Everything has worked right, but I cannot find the way to also set a point light to change its color as the same time the material on the geometry is changing.

I finally tried to set it on the parameter connection editor, I used my null arrow as a driving force and the point light as the driven. As I moved up the arrow the light will turn red, and as I moved down the arrow the light will turn green.. but.. the problem is, everytime I reload the scene, the parameter connection editor resets and I lose my connections.

What am I doing wrong? An most important, how can I turn on/off a point light using ice?
