This challenge is awesome timing since I've been meaning to train up on some lighting techniques for work this summer. What I'm going to do is take the Pontiac car provided and put it into a tracked shot. I've already grabbed a shot from VideoCopilot and tracked it in Blender. I was originally going to do the lighting in Blender but since I've got some down time at work, I'm going to make use of the Arnold licenses we have and give that a try instead!

The "story" of the shot will be that this person had been driving the car, ended up in this lot and cannot find whoever he was pursuing, so he got out the car in frustration. It will be running idle just behind him.

Dearl All
there's a new challenge ! So this time your challenge is to light one of these two architectural landmark. One is the Farnsworth house and the other is Tadao Ando's Koshino House.
The challenge is not to put an HDR but to reproduce the lighting as you will see in the references attached. to viewer should have the feeling to view at an architectural book.
I choose this challenge because I think it's not easy and also you can have some good portfolio images
I made all the models. I already know that there are lots of poly for the Tadao Ando's Koshino house couch , but I didn't have time to include displacement map. If you want to can avoid the couch .
I also included some ready made trees. In the koshino house I used the real species that are present near the house and also for the Farnsworth house I've prepared a pack with trees belonging to the species you can find the the neighborhood of the house.
Also I modelled all the furniture for the Farnsworth house so you can have fun also by doing some interior shots.
Donation in other format are very welcome. The obj was tested for import both in Maya and Max and worked ok.
I've tried to suggest some cameras since I modeled inside the scene a small caterpillar (the UV should already be correct). You can also focus on some kind of microworld. Also, even if they come from maya paint fx, the mushrooms seems detailed enough to try a closeup (and have fun with SSS). the terrain is ready for being "displaced" ! Also all the UV for the vegetation and foliage have already been "packed".
Hello ! It's Giorgio From Collective dream. I remember when I started the first Lighting challenge. It was very funny and I hope I can give a bit back to a wonderful community who always helped me in improving (I hope). So I decided to start with a quick and simple one.
it's a minimalistic still life. Actually they are two. I remember I modelled them since a friend of mine asked for a challenging scene for shaders and lighting. The idea was to have something that can be rendered in "photorealistic" way.
You can download the obj scene files from the following link
There is no fixed deadline for now but I hope to have a new challenge every 1-2 months, depending on the feedback given. If you wish to share any scene, or model together some scene, pls send me a private message.
Good Lighting
