Hi,

I created a bodysuit for Genesis in ZBrush. It was suggested that I work in some concentric circles where the pecs/breasts would be so that the mesh stretched out nicely. I was presented with a tutorial at ZCentral but the end result is really not satisfactory. So thought I'd ask here to see if anyone that's creating clothing for figures in Silo would jump in and offer some suggestions.

What you see below is the attempt. I masked off, using symmetry, hid the rest of the geometry and then edge loop and smooth. Got to dense and a hole remained in the center. I tried bringing the suit into Silo to fill the hole but in DAZ Studio when looking over the mesh the hole fill was connected to one of the edges only rather then an even fill with a center point so it looked really bad and not sure how that would have morphed. So here I am back to square one with an unaltered suit or .....

IF I have to restart the suit I guess I can deal with that too but really want to build it with those included.

Thanks much

I'm a hobbyist and dabbler in 3D programs, and have been using Sketchup for much of my experiments. However, it's become too limiting for me, and I'm thinking of upgrading to Silo, which has been recommended.

Most of the promo materials focus on organic shapes. While I certainly appreciate its ability (and look forward to experimenting with) to do organic forms, how does it perform for more angular objects, such as "industrial" starships and weapons?

Any feedback from users is greatly appreciated.

Hello Nevercenter team,

because the soon to be released modo 701 is getting to expensive (imho) for the hobbyists, etc.users it would be really nice to continue development on Silo, with (paid) updates to 3.0. I believe it's time to do so, because sooner or later more users will need a viable modeling alternative to modo and there's not much else out there. Hexagon seems to be dead and other modelers are not available on OSX.

Best regards
Hi all,

in case you like to rig and pose your Silo character, prior bringing it into an external render engine, you may check out the free Shade3D for Unity app, which is already available for quite a bit of time at the Mac App Store and now also at CNet, besides of Mirye Software.
Hey everyone, i'm new to silo and I am considering buying it. It looks affordable and great since I absolutely despise blender as it's just plain ugly and often confuses the heck out of me. One thing I was kinda hoping for was some sculpting similar to mudbox simply because I liked this method of designing 3d models a little better. According to the Silo Feature List for Modeling is that it says you can Effortlessly switch between Sculpting and Precisely Controlling Hard-Edged Surfaces. I played around with Silo for a few minutes but got confused and could not find it anywhere in the toolbox. Or exactly what does it mean by this? I find it a little confusing and possibly untrue but maybe I am misunderstanding it all.

Am I missing something? Could someone please explain a little more?

I mean this seems like a great and affordable modeling tool but I'm wondering if it's worth getting it or not. Sculptris is okay but I'd prolly invest in zbrush instead if I went that direction though I don't really have that kind of money to fork out or for mudbox even sadly. I fail to understand why these softwares are so damn expensive. Anyone have any input or know of anything that is good or better? I mainly want something that will work with unity3d and this looks like a good fit but I'm a bit uncertain since i'm mostly novice to all this other then playing around with blender, a mudbox and zbrush demo and sculptris some.

Thanks,
Hi,

It is sad to see Nevercenter attempting to squeeze every penny out of Silo 2.2 on every vendor/platform.

http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=175

So I was thinking, why doesn't Nevercenter start a campaign on Kickstarter or IndieGoGo? I guess many of us would gladly contribute to it for the continuation of updates and new versions, right?

I hope Nevercenter consider this seriously since it is a real pity to watch Silo fade away as a dead horse ...
I started playing with UV's but I notice it lacks the feature of a good automapping UV tool.
I also notice a 3D UV Mode. I saw a lot of tutorials on youtube, however, I cannot figure for the love of god how to do it manually. I recreate the UV's using XYZ. Then I go into UV 3D Mode ... and how do I unwrap and lay them out as a surface?

I figured it out.
I just select the faces in UV 3D Mode and then recreate by XYZ.
Problem is ... how do I flatten them completely?

Oh lol ... Alt + Shift + F ...

Very good this 3D UV Unwrap but very time consuming to do it by hand. Any alternative?

Hi!

Im working on a game with Unity3D and do my models in Silo.
I stared with a box, cutted it and extruded. After exporting to .obj that happened:
Picture: click here
It is not a problem with unity. I had the same problem with .obj files made in silo in other game engines, too. And if i reopen the .obj with silo it looks all fine.
