Moved the planet from the left to the bottom to create more drama and to keep the focus on depth perception. Kept the piece monochromatic and simple to create more mystery.
I haven't finished obviously, but, this is the composition where its headed. Any critiques on the placements of figures and the explosion would be great. The explosion is only a temporary fix and is just a smeared photo off the web. The final explosion will look something like this but, hand painted. Any comments on color combinations would be a help as well. Thanks.

Well, this is the most time I can spendon it, another hour and a half into the picture and I'm pretty much out of free time to work on the project. I had wanted to add a rocket-boost effect to the bottoms of the mecha and refine the motion effects more, but this is the most time I can spend in the allotment I was given on it. Having joined the competition this week, I think my results are pretty good despite the short amount of time I had.

I look forward to really pushing myself on the next challenge
