Thought I'd post my most recent piece here. This is sort of a compilation of some of my previous work. This started out as a completely different shot, but evolved into something that I'm quite happy with. Please let me know what you think!
Hi,

Thought I'd post this WIP for some feedback. The image description calls for a creepy asylum up on a hill.

What I'm looking at specifically in this picture is the sense of, well, spookyness. I didn't want to do a standard Victorian Mansion type building, but chose more of a turn of the century, almost Shaker style building. I still have one dormer window to ad on the top.

Things that are bothering me/I'm wondering about are the high placement of the building (should I have more sky, for instance, considering that it is on a hill), lighting, etc. -- do these various elements combine enough to create an image that matches the description?
Just curious of others' take on it.

Thanks,

~Shane
I am very happy to find this forum - emotion is my weakest skill in art (closely followed by posing and composition - also quite weak!)

This image is quite typical - fairly interesting content and a nice finish but devoid of action, emotion or purpose. I want to change the two female characters to give add some story and emotion to the scene - and will almost certainly remove their masks to show some facial expressions, as well as giving them poses (rather than the flat standing pose they currently have)

Ideally I would make the image say "exciting and mysterious exploration by talented scouts".

I am looking forward to your ideas!
I've been looking for a forum like this for a while. I'm wanting to become a professional illustrator working in the publishing industry doing bookcover art. This piece is meant to be used as a bookcover for a fantasy type novel. I'm trying to create an interesting and arresting image.
Ok ive been working on this for a little while and im kinda stuck on some of the specifics. Originaly the room was going to have a character on the platform with some "scarry thing" reaching up through the bars at him, but after i set up the room and the lights i decided it would be better to stay low key.

I would apprecate anything anyone can say to help me get it over the last hump. The arms are boned so i can move them and articulate them.

Things im thinking about working on,

Arm placement/position (more than one pair?)

Light color / intesity ( lighter/darker )

More detail (texture, modeling, more stuff)

wider aspect ratio?

- it's just not there yet

edit..

Ok so i looked at it on another cpu and it is way too dark, so i think im gona go a diffrent route with it. Now i need to think about where to place the arms, and what kind of detail to add or things to change to make it less grid like.

And i know the wall tex looks like hell, so ill be working on that first.
Not merely a joining of bone, flesh, blood, and metal-but a complete fusion, where one is no different from the other. Muscle weaves in with hydrolic pumps, brain tissue and silicon chips exist and function without boundries, without limits. A true living breathing creation-technology and humanity comeing together, creating its first hybrid soul.

.............

A human and robot have 'concieved' this child. The 1st in the next step of evolution. A creation of love for some, but a bastardisation of humanity for others.
Not entirely human, not entirely machine.
Alone in the womb-peaceful...innocent...
Done for the Machine Flesh challenge. Congrats to all the winners, and all the participants!

Time taken was the whole 3 months of the challenge, only working on and off weekends, and the occasional caffine induced night.

All 3D work done in MAX 5, using all its standard tools (no fancy plugins), with the exception of Niel Blevins WIRE JUMBLE script.

Post was completed in Paint Shop Pro.

Questions and comments are always appreciated!

A recent HD crash saw me losing my final full sized comp, although I do still have all of her 3d files.

I think I can safely file her in my 'completed works' file, and I doubt I will revisit her anytime soon.

Thanks to CGTalk for allowing me this fantastic opportunity!

She is hosted in the...erm...hosted gallery, but I owuld really like to get a feel from you guys as to weather got the 'feeling' of peace and innocense out of the image-along with making it a little 'disturbing' to look at.
Hi there!
Landscape==> http://www.allthegoodness.com/forum...ype=post&id=500

This is a matte painting for my final year university animation project. It is designed to sit in the background, with a 2D animated character (small, carrying wheat) passing in the foreground. I would really like some feedback on what people feel from this image... does the image convey the setting (perhaps try guessing where it is, so i can judge how accurate i am getting... I'll let you know where it is set in a day or so) ? How could i maximise the emotional impact of this shot? I want to give a feeling of how vast the landscape is - the scale of the mountains. Just feel free to comment on any other emotional aspects that come to mind.

I would be very appreciative of anyone who takes the time to give me some feedback. I will be working on this piece over the next couple of days- updating regularly.

Word out to the CG Talk Massif!!! Cheers...

Hello!

This is the first post since a long time not showing here, it's great to come back here with a new piece. This one is a simply (almost) 30sec animation, done for my own purposes, within After Effects and Photoshop. It's suppose to tell a simple story of love and ups and downs of this relationship. I'd like to ask you what were you're feelings while you were watching this.
About two years ago a friend of mine passed away in a car accident. He was a big fan of airplanes and he a pilot himself. I made this picture for several reasons, to remember his death was one of them. However, when I look at it, it looks a little "flat", boring to me. This might be because I made the picture myself and I looked a hell of a lot more than you guys are doing right now, but still... so any ideas on how to maybe change a few things to get a little more emotion of "drama" out of it would be appreciated.
