t-shirt design contest for The Mountain.
Photoshop 6 w/ mouse
Thanks to the contest I finally got a tablet. :)
What do you guys think?

Well, here's the larger version (http://www.artofkalomus.com/gallery/snowangel850.jpg)

I saw this piece opn gfxartist for the contest... and you won it, right?
Great work man, you have a great mouse under your hand! ;)
Really cool work, compliments!

The big winner of the T-shirt contest!!
Yeahhh and a beautiful and elegant picture!

11-01-2003, 11:42 AM
Really nice image and congrats on winning the contest (and a new tablet as well). I like the character and the lighting is just dreamy. The 2 things I didn't like about the image however were the snow flakes and the background.

The snowflakes didn't seem like snow to me. Without the title I would have guessed they were stars or lightning bugs. I guess they're just not 'flakey' enough and seem like just random placements of dots. Also, they don't seem to be falling in the immediate foreground or distant background. They appear to only fall in the vicinity of the angel.

The background has this odd lighting or oval of darkness that surrounds the main figure. Really odd to me, but I guess for a t-shirt design they'll map the area around her to show the tie-dye shirt. So, not really a big deal.

But ... feh ... ignore my critiques. The image is very lovely reguardless. Congrats again! Well deserved if you ask me. Now, lets see what you can do with that new tablet!

very pretty and sweet, excellent work :)

11-02-2003, 01:05 AM
Absolutely stunning work! Everything about it is just...simply...beautiful.

I can't even begin to fathom how something like this could have been made with just Photoshop and a mouse.

Now *that's* talent. :applause:

11-03-2003, 05:56 AM
wow~~~~What fantastic work !

amazing work!

11-03-2003, 11:48 AM
great picture.

I've always shunned away at painting with a mouse, so this is a real eye opener on what you can do. I was wondering at what scale you do this?

I'd love to get a rough break-down on how you setup the picture

11-03-2003, 12:20 PM
Hmmm, how can I put this...its very angelic  I like it alot.. great job!

The crit about the snow only falling around the Angel.

I could dig that, as if she attracted the snow, like her own personal snowfall.
Either way - a lovely image that caught my eye and mind.

11-03-2003, 01:56 PM
wow. 4 awsome paintings on front page today. i can hardly breath!!

this is stunning. i couldnt even do this WITH a wacom, never mind a mouse, so very well done for that and winning your compition!

11-03-2003, 02:17 PM

11-03-2003, 02:55 PM

I disagree.... Her facial expression was the thing that caught my eye. It makes the image so powerful.

How long did this take you? It's beautiful!

11-03-2003, 06:08 PM
wow, a beautiful rendition of an angel i must say, i love the expression as it isnt too "bubbly" as you commonly see in characters of the sort, well done, i would love to see a close up of her face if you can! :)

11-03-2003, 06:17 PM
truly amazing! congrats with winning the contest. I think critting this would only be nitpicking so I leave it out this time :)

p.s. Never believed this could be possible with a mouse :surprised so that's why I never actually tried drawing something on the computer before getting my tablet.. you prove me wrong

11-03-2003, 06:45 PM

That is absolutely gorgeous. Excellent composition and focus of the entire piece. Though another user was right, the snowy dots in the background do detract ever so slightly. But wow, the color scheme is great..... you gotta definitely know your controls in Photoshop to get anything to look THAT NICE...

11-03-2003, 07:13 PM
You really deserve that tablet!

11-03-2003, 08:36 PM
what the heck you all did this with a mouse you insane or you just that good !!!! :applause:

11-03-2003, 08:54 PM
great piece!

... but its really not that much harder with a mouse once you've become customed to it (maybe jus more time? :D) ...

-jus more "undo's" and more "zoom'ins" - but in the end, the skills of thee arteest will provail through any medium.

11-03-2003, 09:11 PM
Very nice. Impressive to do this with a mouse, I'm glad you got that tablet, you deserved it :)

(be carefull drawing to much with the mouse though, you might hurt your arm. I did :hmm: )

11-03-2003, 09:32 PM
this is remarkable... i would love to see a hi-res image as well... see some more of that detail. How do you control a mouse with such elegance!? :applause:

11-03-2003, 10:41 PM

11-04-2003, 01:16 AM

11-04-2003, 03:31 AM

- more like.. great hand with a mouse!
I love the picture.. the lights, the angel, and the wings are placed in a great position.
The background is sort of simple, if this was not for a t-shirt motive, I would prever something more interresting

but as a summery... you rock

11-04-2003, 05:39 PM
unbelievable what some of you guys are able to paint with photoshop !!

damn ... how i hate my two left hands :D

This piece of work definitely rocks :buttrock:

11-04-2003, 06:13 PM
amazing work

11-04-2003, 07:11 PM
very nicely done! what type of mouse do you have. I bet it was an optical and you had to spend three times the amount of time to paint becaase of the constant problem with the mouse skipping at times. a very nice job in an aesthetic sense. Nice use of color and lighting! the angel idea has been used many times by many people. I think yours is the best rendition of an angel girl in a long time! Very nice work!

11-04-2003, 11:44 PM
With mouse??? This is insane!!! :buttrock:

11-05-2003, 12:27 AM

11-05-2003, 02:17 AM
thx you guys for all the comments.
Well it's not an optical mouse, it has a ball with annoying wire.
And where in the world did you get an idea of olsen twin?!?:surprised

11-05-2003, 04:16 AM
