wow, this is great. I know the concept is not yours, but you did a great job with the modeling, and the textures fit it perfectly. This kinda style is really cool and you pulled it off quite well. Also, great job on your zip image too. I think if he had glowing eyes it would fit better with the rest of him, but that's just a personal preference. Keep up the good work!

10 October 2003, 06:08 PM
I love this character.....and you really pull it out ;)
Great job... I hope you'll win cg talk choice award :D

10 October 2003, 06:10 PM
wow man,great character,looks really awesome
no crits.
keep it up:buttrock:

10 October 2003, 06:28 PM
 That's a rat from Cernobil :surprised
Grate work !!

10 October 2003, 07:14 PM
AWESOME!! hehe.. kinda reminds me of William Birkin from Resident Evil 2.. perhaps this is what would happen to a rat, if it was injected with the G-Virus.. ooooh.. kickass, dude..

10 October 2003, 08:33 PM
I love this I have seen it before but it looks alot better with the fur and textures... oh did you keep up with that prposal you made of doing a model a week... I think that was you, right?

10 October 2003, 09:08 PM
thats a nice character ,,good job

10 October 2003, 10:54 PM
Wow! Never seen it before, looks totally original, love the teeth, really great job!

10 October 2003, 11:30 PM

10 October 2003, 11:52 PM
Its the perfect picture to put on my tupperware so no one steals my food from the fridge at work! LOL... great image, love the teeth... sorta reminds me of the sh*t weasels from that Stephen King Dreamcatcher movie... sort of... keep up the great work!

fanboy, :buttrock:

10 October 2003, 12:46 AM
Cool! At first I thought that it was a Photoshop drawing. But you can rig and animate your drawing. I like your style.

Now, do you really think that a rat trap will even be an option?

10 October 2003, 01:12 AM
Seems to be a popular subject:)

Evil Mouse part 1 (

Emoy one
10 October 2003, 01:18 AM
....i ve just bough the figurine, really fan of this style....

10 October 2003, 01:27 AM
Michel is a really nice guy and a great artist.

If you get a chance to talk to him at a convention get him to personalize your books... my Frenzied Fauna book he drew me one of my favourite animals...a platypus...

...really nice guy.

I will have to forward this link to him...

Very nice 3D work as well!

10 October 2003, 01:50 AM
man, what a mouth! I love those teeth :) This thing would do great in a kids cartoon animation

10 October 2003, 02:13 AM
hehehehehe...this is funny.

Only crit is the lips and the face area are too smooth compared to the rest of the body. Some texturing and some bump would be nice on those areas.

Otherwise, its wikid!

10 October 2003, 02:56 AM
heh, nice image :) nice tex on the gums, I think the ears need some more detail though; they seem a bit round and cute looking; which is a difficult contrast with the pointy evil look of the rest of the creature. I'd make them kind of pointing back and ending in a point and narrow and weithered and stuff. But hey thats just me.

to my knowledge, when you are saying you did the model work, isnt it spelt 'modelled' instead of 'modeled'? I'm not too sure but to me, modelled looks right.

10 October 2003, 03:06 AM
Hey, Shiva3D. you did nice job here. I love this character!
what i feel is the fur needs more work, and some area could be better on texture, like ears, lips and skin.
anyway, nice work. Keep post up more.
btw i like your website, you did so lots of interesting design. may i select one for my next short film.

10 October 2003, 03:16 AM
fully sik bro
looks like a warhammer squig a bit

10 October 2003, 05:19 AM
Great Image. I am a fan of Michel Gagne's work as well.
Something about the back foot (paw) bothers me. Perhaps if it was rotated outwards a bit? Maybe 30-40 degrees or so?
the toenails (claws) don't look right being straight on.

Just a suggestion. Fabulous work all the same.

10 October 2003, 05:47 AM
Definitly a rat on steroids. Or crack. Looks good.

10 October 2003, 06:07 AM
very cool ....i love the hair on the rat....very impressive and artistic

10 October 2003, 06:46 AM
love it!, just love it! :buttrock:

10 October 2003, 07:01 AM

10 October 2003, 08:28 AM
Wooow, that one freaky rat! I guess he ate something wrong last night.. :p Nice modeling, keep it up.

10 October 2003, 08:33 AM
excellent design...

only one major issue i see... i know it's not supposed to be realistic character... :) but his teeth... if he closes his mouth, he will probably die... ;)

10 October 2003, 08:42 AM
It looks so cool! I like this style.:applause:

10 October 2003, 08:44 AM
I thought that was a rabbit, not a rat? It's part of his weird-ass rabbit collection as far as I understood.

That aside it seems nicely done. The only real crit I can come up with has already been mentioned, the hind paw being set in an unnatural angle. It'd be very cool to see it animated, bring 'er to life!

Oh, and it'd be good fun to see some wires and whatnot if that's possible.

10 October 2003, 08:49 AM
well done. I like the mouth

10 October 2003, 10:16 AM
The tail and horns glow! (any reason why?)
I love the rat, its been the wallpaper of my second pc for some months now...(it fits, as it also is small old critter with attitude:))
i always tought the mouth was inspired on some creatures of the orcs of warhammer... its interesting to know where the concept came from...
Dont know if its the compression but (as opposed to every other image) it looks worse on tft than in crt...

10 October 2003, 10:39 AM
Nice design and the final image is really nice !

It reminds me something i've done some months ago with Poser elements and Lightwave.

10 October 2003, 10:40 AM
yes !! ! it's very good job,superb ! !!
he look's very " hungry" ! !! :applause:

10 October 2003, 11:24 AM

10 October 2003, 01:03 PM
Great modeling!

10 October 2003, 03:06 PM

10 October 2003, 04:29 PM
I really love that style. I saw it last year at the Softimage gallerie but the model was done with XSI. Did you export it to 3DS ?

10 October 2003, 04:39 PM

10 October 2003, 06:42 PM
According to that XSI image, the original concept was a Rabbit? Holy Damn! Thats why his ears are so *cute* ^-^..... uhh that wasnt me talking honest...

10 October 2003, 07:17 PM
Awsome stuff there. :buttrock: Amazing!
I think I've seen this before. :)

Of course, it's the cover of my 3ds max 5 book. :applause:

10 October 2003, 07:30 PM
this is possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen!

10 October 2003, 07:38 PM
Hi pal!
your rat rox!:buttrock:
could we see a wire frame or a low poly render?

10 October 2003, 07:48 PM
wow that looks like a frog with a human face, undoubetly freakiest ugliest thing I have ever seen. A front view would have probably knocked me off my chair!

10 October 2003, 07:52 PM
very nice.
To abd that the tail does not have hair.
Can we see a low poly wireframe?

10 October 2003, 09:33 PM
Without furs did James Prevette in XSI.
I did not use His model, I did its myself from a beginning up to the end.
On the moment of creation I yet did not know about that that someone already create of this character.

2peekoot: You are right.. A jaw to close it will be not possible.. However as well as animate this animal.. The design is sick improper at her for this purpose.

I shall tell honourly, when I began to work above model, I and itself saw all lacks of design, as the wrong corner of back legs, about a jaw etc. But, I Very much did not want to leave from the sketch of Michael!

I know that textures are not so good
It because I studied to use DeepPaint3D and it costed to me of many nerves

Grids (so much, how many will wish) I can lay out only on Monday from work, therefore as the house at me is not present access to normal ftp. You and now can find it on my a site - http: // ww /, pleace only not all at once, therefore as it "geocities" and he quickly will cover my site because of the traffic.

2sergage: You are right, this ???????? on the book.. To me for it have not paid, simply have presented a pair of copies of the book

The large Thank by all for the comments!! :wavey:

P.S. I simultaneously with this work have laid out one more, newer work.. -
And it is strange for me, that she has passed unnoticed. Explain why? I thought that she is more interesting.

10 October 2003, 10:24 PM
nobrain, "wow that looks like a frog with a human face"??? Man what does your face look like?! :)

Very cool picture!

10 October 2003, 10:37 PM
hehe nice pet:)) i wanna to have it together with my snake:)) who will win?:)

10 October 2003, 11:04 PM
instead of using it AS your desktop, put it ON your desktop....

Very cool.

10 October 2003, 11:26 PM
:applause: Great Job Looks awsom I think it might add to it if you use some kind of rat tail texture for the tail. Keep up the amazing work..!

11 November 2003, 12:33 AM
nice. you know what would look cool...

you know that type of specular highlight on a tarantula's back? this would work well on the nose/snout area.

11 November 2003, 02:06 AM
Duuuuu hhhaaaa iiiuuu... :wip:

11 November 2003, 06:35 AM
All I can say is wow:surprised

11 November 2003, 07:13 AM
awwww... cute :)

11 November 2003, 10:10 AM
Интересно. Мне тоже нихрена не дали за мой рендер кроме двух копии книги. Но мой рисунок был дерьмом в отличии от твоего. ;)

11 November 2003, 02:09 PM
just a thing I'll criticize:
very realistic teeth in a maybe too cartoonish character style.

but is a good idea for a radioactive character!

11 November 2003, 04:33 AM
thats cool! nice combination of software usage! good finishing!
