I love the composition, the color and flow of the image, and the stylization in the face. The amount of attention that went into his wardrobe is quite lovely.

A couple things kinda bug me towards the lower right of the image-- the glowy purple details on his ankle seem very isolated and stick out, since that color occurs nowhere else... and also there seems to be something a little funky going on with the thigh of that leg, it seems too flat along the bottom, with no real form to where his rear end should be. The little curve that is there makes it seem that his thigh is sprouting from a spot kinda far out to the side. Maybe trying to accomodate that curved horn on his belt is giving you (and him, heheh) some trouble.

The whole picture is great. I especially like the little floating spheres... they just decoration or do they have a meaning?

10-30-2003, 02:56 AM
Crazy man! Nice work on the details n lighting...Nice pastelly effect too... Plug this!

Cheers!

10-30-2003, 04:47 AM
did you use photoshop? or did you model it in a 3d app.???

10-30-2003, 04:49 AM
Here's a very good example that tells us why creative talent is more important than mastering 3D!

10-30-2003, 04:54 AM
Simply .....beautiful. Love the colors of this piece. Very pleasant on the eye. Great work.

I agree with Gnarly Craniums comment about the horn interfering with the leg... And what on earth does that SPAWN-like skull and horns have to do with the buddha? The other symbols seem to fit, but the horned skull seems so out of place to me... Not to mention how horribly it would interfere with any kicking. Frankly, I think you should go back into it and replace that thing.

That stuff said... I think it's a phenomenal painting! Forget what I said about going back into it, and just get on with your next image!

WOW amazing pic!!!

10-30-2003, 06:26 AM
I think they should take down all the old buddhas and swap them with yours! It's like the buddha of the present. Love the colours, dragons.. EVERYTHING.. I like the whole composite. It tells a story all on it's own.

Amazing.

10-30-2003, 06:41 AM
give your next character something like eight arms, hehe. good work. I look forward to seeing your next piece.

I also agree that the horned skull is interfering a little bit. Could you offer some insight as to what role it plays in the image? I currently don't get anything, but I don't know much about buddha. But I was just thinking that from my stereotypical point of view of buddha, the skull and horns aren't super fitting? If it's suiting to the theme, cool, but like I said... I dont know much about buddha :) Since it's a rebirth, let's just say it doesn't matter anyways, and say that this work looks really good.

Excellent job all in all, I like your ideas.

impressive !

10-30-2003, 08:01 AM
that is absolutely gorgeous! I love the whole work as a whole though I do take some issue with the title. Personally speaking, this "warrior tough" rendition of Buddha doesn't hold very well with my own personal views about him. I picture something a bit more subtle, though grande, but also gentler and contemplative; a more or less typical rendition... Other than that, that's really nice looking.... very clean and excellent composition.

10-30-2003, 08:08 AM
Very nice, though I think those horns on that belt thing would make it hard to sit like that :p

10-30-2003, 08:16 AM
Excellent !

5 stars for me

The image looks really polished. You should be proud.

What was the original size of the picture before it was scanned? What media did you use acrylics, gouache?

Keep up the great work

10-30-2003, 10:19 AM
