My first tought for that concept was about an organic planet... Kinda of town build on an Innerpace model...
Here's a first sketch, not really happy about this, too much human looking brain!!!

11 November 2003, 12:39 PM (

Not again what i've got in mind... but i want to take some time to have a concept i like before starting modeling...

11 November 2003, 12:46 PM (

Gonna work on that previous sketch on photoshop to see if i can do something good with it... Anyway it will help me to have some color ideas!! First steps...

Any comments are welcome...

Every thing is great. You will work hard to put this in 3D. I can't wait too see.

11 November 2003, 05:51 PM
Love the style. Looks like everything is kind of folding in on itself. And yeah, that's quite a challenge to put that into 3D. Lets see more

11 November 2003, 11:35 AM
Thank's guys!!! I want to finish the concept before i start the modeling, and i know it's gonna be hard to pu that in 3D!!! :scream:

I might do it a bit more simple if i had any troubles!!! More will come soon...

11 November 2003, 11:45 AM
Lovin it!

Very original idea. It almost lends itelf to the cooler colour range and i like the idea of it being quite "moody" and alot of contrast.

Cant wait to see some progress

11 November 2003, 10:47 AM (

Start this new sketch yesterday evening... Not finshed yet, but want to know what you think about it!!!

11 November 2003, 12:53 AM
Quite pleasing on the eye alright. It's making me swirl my head around. *L* Nicer arrangement than the previous. What's this gonna be 'made of' though? I almost wanna see like some rocky walls from the left and right running off into fog at the bottom. Like this is this kind of .. entity I guess floating... well BEING there in the sky. Nice update.

11 November 2003, 01:03 AM
NICE! I like the way its drawn. Makes me feel like its chaotic yet organized at the same time. Looking forward to see how you're gonna model it!

I like your works but most i like sketch 2 - very very beautiful indeed!I am also interested in 3d version of your work - wish you all the best and good luck!:)

11 November 2003, 06:01 AM
You got a great flow into those shapes, I like sketch 2 very much, looking forward to see your next steps!
Keep on rockin' Man!:buttrock:

Great concept. ASAP get it into 3d. How do You plan to texture it ? Seems to be rather complicated ...

11 November 2003, 03:05 PM
question for this more on the idea of a liquid/gas like substance or is it more like sinuey like substance? I'm asking cause i can see both positive and negative shapes as being dominant.... I'm really curious to see this take shape in 3d modeling... cool job so far!:)

11 November 2003, 11:19 PM (

It's been quite a time since my last posting...
First i want to thanks for those who comments my sketches... Really helps to have some feedback from you guys!!! ;)
And i promise i'll answered your questions about how i'm gonna transalte that into 3D!!! To be honest i'm not absolutly sure about it yet!!! :S
Probably some poly's and some meshsmooth...
By the way.. just wanted to send my last sketch for the moment!!!

11 November 2003, 11:38 PM (

Was about to post a colored version just after that...

By the way... Anybody knows how to update my first pictures post??? Want to put them in 800 except from the prehistorik 6,40x 4,00 abailavable at the moment...

11 November 2003, 12:20 AM (

Here's that first color test for my last sketch... just few channels on photoshop!!!
A quick color test on the first posting next!!! Is there by any chance a way to send more than a picture when i submit an entry???

Just asking!!!

11 November 2003, 02:25 AM (

Another color test with my first sketch... Same kind of colors from the previous one... I'll try different color mix with the other two sketches...
But before that i'll scan and post few of these other sketches i did!!

11 November 2003, 03:33 AM (

This one started as a concept art for Alienbrain challenge, until i did alt + i + e + 9 in photoshop... and some kind of a contrat... then it was a part of this world as a "used to live there species..."

11 November 2003, 03:41 AM (

One of the species the place...

11 November 2003, 03:51 AM (

Another sketch for it...

The Neurone Color Test looks great. The shapes are starting to form as more solid structures there. Any 3D tests on how to approach it yet? Maybe spline modelling easiest..? Anyways, I think the aforementioned test is a good starting point in terms of composition. My suggestion would be to expand the circular space on the far right to let us see background etc. In other words to keep what you have as an image and increase the aspect ratio to a widescreen format just adding to the right. Well, just an idea. Looking good anyways. Good luck with it. :)

What make me like a big time these picture is your vision. Original. How you manage not be influenced by all these concepts of aliens and aliens's worlds that our world have (our collective minds)?

12 December 2003, 04:30 AM (

Last crap sketche before i start modeling!!!

12 December 2003, 07:21 AM
Sketches are great- somehow resembling creatures from depths of sea. Give us models ! :)

12 December 2003, 10:53 AM
oh, this will look cool! Interesting to see how you are going to model those shapes. If you get them to look similar to your concepts, you will have some very cool models. Bring em on!

I'm really loving those sketches! the forms are really original. Awesome flowy and interacting well with each other. Very alien.

12 December 2003, 09:37 AM
Hey Franky!

Great flow, cant wait to see this in 3d, if you can hold this great dynamic style, it's gonna be a buttrockin' piece of cg art!
I'll be here to see how it's comin' on!
Goodluck and keep rockin'! :buttrock:

12 December 2003, 10:10 AM
Thanks for your replies guys!!!

Didn't start the modeling yet and won't be able to start untill next year as i'm off tonight for holidays!!! :)

That mean i'll probably won't finish it on time for the challenge, don't think i'll manage to finish it in two weeks time... to much :wip: to do... ;)

But for sure i'll go to the end of that project... want to do a nice Cg with it as i didn't work on a high poly environnement for ages, and i really want to know what are my skills on such realisation...
So follow this thread even after the end of the challenge, i promiss there will be updates...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you!!!
