I have 5 team members now, they are listed below, sorry I don't have all of their cgtalk usernames I am trying to get them..

What I love about Robot Jox is the way that it combines serious sci-fi tropes with whimsical robot combat. In that spirit, I want to stage a realistic test of a somewhat silly weapon: the old-fashioned rocket fist! The original film featured one, so I think it's a fitting homage.
Sequence Proposal (approx. 1 min):
A Western Market robot outfitted with a prototype rocket fist is raised up into a test arena using an elevator system. As final checks are completed, a utility vehicle tows in a beat-up robot shell to act as a target. Once everything is ready, the WM robot raises it arm and fires the fist!
The massive metal hand rockets forward, but something's wrong! The rockets propelling it forward are dangerously overpowered and it wobbles on its way to the target, already verging out of control.
It manages to hit the shell - pulverizing it - but doesn't stop. As the shell tumbles over (causing devastation of its own), the fist slams into a wall and starts running along it, the rockets still firing long after they should have stopped.
Finally, it slams into a camera platform and explodes! The test is officially over.
All the shots are taken from the various cameras monitoring the test. Timecode overlays and camera titles can be used to provide authenticity. If this approach is too static, we can create a few shots from a camera mounted onto the fist to provide some motion.
If we stick to an SD resolution, I can probably provide a few live-action plates for certain shots with a lab-coated researcher running for their life!
As described above, the final shot is the fist careening into a camera, knocking out the feed with a burst of static.
In addition to the sounds of the test itself, we can overlay audio chatter as the various technicians prep the robot. When the test goes wrong, the chatter gets panicked and a few suggest that the test was sabotaged by the Russian Confederation (another theme from the original film).
I have no idea how far we can get with this idea, but it would provide ample opportunities to sharpen our skills. I've been working on modeling the fist for a while now and it wouldn't be too difficult to knock up crude animatics for reference and shot-length.

Just finished the rocket fist and thought I'd post a few quick renders. I find that my lackluster texturing perfectly complements my lackluster modeling! :)
The insignia is that of the Western Market, our post-apocalyptic good-guys.

Cool :). Looks nice.
Though i would say the fire lacks speed, usually flamethrowers throw the lit fuel quite a big distance away, it's a bit more violent in movement.

it appears that my partner will no longer be on this so its just myself now...
I just can't seem to edit the first thread...so I may make a new one, I'm going to continue on this myself until i can find some help
I've already sent message to a couple of recent posters but if anyone wants to try an FX artist pls let me know, I do fluids, fx, cloth sims, etc

I will be joining Frescalus.....i will be doing the Animation, Staging (camera work).....some modelling & texturing too!! will also try to do some lighting!!... it would be very nice if some more artist come forward and help us in this project!!

i did some rough Animatics i was planning for story boarding but my sketching sucks and as time is also less so i had to start wid the animatics directly.. these is only half of the animatics!! (staging of props is also left) sorry for the small size!

quick update, sorry for the delay but have been working on this....
this is a quick test of grenades being thrown, next video I'll implement this into the actual grenade launcher

FX for the minigun, actually, its going to be a gatling gun based on the size of the robot in comparison to the human, being a chain gun isn't fitting
This weapon is firing at a rate of 600 rounds per minute...
as far as the rendering itself goes, the rounds somehow didn't make it onto any of the render layers so ignore that, and for some reason after effects liked the sparks white instead of the color they actually are....
other than that, what do you think?

We have started to block the shots and everything is looking great so far.
I got shot 1 and shot 5.
Hereīs my initial blocking for shot 1.
The guidelines for this shot are the following:
Camera Angle: Eye Level
Camera Movement: Slow dolly out
Frame: extreme close up to medium shot
-Pulling back revealing reflection of ocean side of arena on Mark 1's visor, Chain gun Comes into view, only showing the end of the materialize into chain guns. Finally viewer sees Mark 1 taking cover behind a huge shield. He peeks around the shield.

We are currently blocking out the animation's. We are making progress and I think we will be posting an update soon. I am still working on the texture's and shader network's. I am really new to this workflow since I am used to working for games. I will post an update soon.

Just looked at a draft of the sounds amd BG music put together. Gotta say this is looking awesome and sounding awesome. Canīt wait to see it all put together. It was great animating my shots.
