View Full Version : [3DS Max 2011 / Unity Engine] Need Pencil/Cell-Shading Effect for Realtime Render?!

My Team and I are currently building a prototype game for an assignment at school, and we have decided to go for a fairly vibrant colour scheme, and I would think a pencil shaded effect would compliment it very nicely.

Unfortunately I do not have a lot of experience creating such an effect so I am looking for any help or tutorials that would help me achieve the desired texture/shader effect, similar to that of Valkiria Chronicles and the Opening Cinematic to Super Street Fighter 4:

I am sure this is possible in 3ds Max, perhaps using Ink & Paint Material with an added modifier to it to get the Pencil shading lines to appear where the Ink & Paint draws the shadows, But, will this be renderable in realtime in an Engine such as Unity (What our programmers are using for this project)?
