What do you guys typically set your JPG compression to in the Publishing settings?

Specifically, when you have a jpg that will take up about the size of the window (500x400).

I use Advanced Perceptual Logic.

eg... my eyes! Nothing is more accurate. Judge your jpg's with your own eyes, there is never a default 'fits all sizes' setting.

Just looking for an average according to size.

What I notice as artifacts most users would never see.

I guess you need to ask most users then, becuase you are right... we producers have a much finer eye for the details.

Do an experiment on your friends.

understanding how an image saving process works could be useful. if you have a graphic with some colors and a photography - both with the same size - you can save the graphic with high quality ( fe: 75% ) and it can be smaller than the photography even with low and ugly quality.
So the image size depends on the colorratio of the image.
there is no average according to size. every image need its own setting.
