View Full Version : Meet Tiko

05 May 2011, 11:40 AM

In the year 2130, on a yet undiscovered planet, Tiko is the last remaining robot of a mechanical civilization. Machines discovered greed and hunger for power. The war that wiped this civilization lasted 50 years. Tiko is one of those lower end robots on the military scale. He was mass produced as a scout robot by Anko, a weapon company. Now that all is gone, Tiko needs to find a new way to adapt and learn from his environment...

This short marks the start of our new web series Tiko, and while initial development took quite a while (about a month), it was mainly to test different aspects of producing an animated series in short times. To start we will be trying to produced 2 episodes per months and then push it to 1 every week. And by the way all ideas are welcome. If you feel you have a good scenario for a webisode, drop us a line at indo (at) with a subject "Tiko webisode". We hope you enjoy it.

hmmm...reminds me of tyson's little robot ball tutorial...inspired?

Hey ragdoll.
Not inspired per se, design wise at least. The robot's design (cube) is inspired from the Caustik logo (cyan square). I wanted a simple robot, compact and easy to animate. The fan and weapons are an added feature. I did stumble upon Tyson's roboball tutorial at some point. And found out about other robo balls, models and animation tests etc...
Side by side, there is an air of similarity, both primitives, both with 4 legs with a cute walk, a lens / camera, blades etc.... but they're not the same :)
I've seen people call him a Wall-E (just because he's a box), but then again what else?
