View Full Version : mirror UV maps

Hi, I am practicing the "Experience XSI 4 book" , and I cant find the equivalent to the script UV Mirror.vbs (to UV one side of a mesh and then mirror the UVs for the other side). Is there a tool for that in Softimage 2011 -2012?

But, thinking about this a little. If you completed the UVs for one side of an object. You could delete the half that does not have uv's. Duplicate the side that does. Give it a negative X value to flip it to the other side. Select the UV shell in the uv editor, mirror it horizontal from the tools menu. Merge the two meshes together. Go back to the uv editor, Using the move tool and snap to points, snap the shell to the correct position.

If you have completed the Right side, delete the left side.

Don't duplicate the object, use symmetrize.

Poly.Mesh > Symmetrize Polygons
In Weld distance put something like 0.0001
Select the left side of your object in your viewport

Go to the Texture Editure and mirror it with the Mirror Horizontal in the Tools Menu.

Then using snapping move it to the left side and you're done.
