View Full Version : Dominance War V-Dhoumeia- God of celestial bodies

04 April 2011, 02:26 PM
Here is the god in which I believe, an Artist - or should I say 'The Artist'?-. Inside its changeable humanoid shell (which can be modified anytime),
coexist the nothingness and the living light.

this God is a creator, and human kind, as a product of its creativity, represents only a small part of its boundless creation.

The universe is its canvas, flowing from its back, as a nothingness-blacky fluid where She gives birth to her creation painting with her brush-like right arm.
My aim is to capture the marvellous gesture of her act of creation.

04 April 2011, 12:53 PM

trying to stablish some color scheme and a dynamic pose

04 April 2011, 01:03 PM

"making a pollock" sounds really interesting to me :D I can't wait t o see it more developed!

04 April 2011, 07:58 AM

An aracnid version I did yesterday night, Hmmmmm......

Thank you for the coments again!

Nice lighting on the latest one, and on #5. Uplighting often adds an air of menace to a piece and it suits your characters well.

04 April 2011, 11:14 PM
Very expressive sketches and I like the development, he has a very ethereal feel to him. The last concept maybe looks a little too much like a wasp though

04 April 2011, 12:58 PM
Very nice! ;)

04 April 2011, 01:48 PM

Here some more stuff....

04 April 2011, 02:01 PM
Creating a pollock!
The concept first on page 2, I really like. The left arm I would like longer, more like a bug.
Anyway, good job. You look excited, keep it up.

04 April 2011, 02:12 PM
Grande! :bounce:

04 April 2011, 02:25 PM
Great sketches! keep rocking :buttrock:

04 April 2011, 04:59 PM
thank you very much for the copmments i really apreciate them.

Here you have the first study of her body-carcass. It looks like a kind of exoskeleton (It reminds me of Simon Bisley style. Im glad to have taken this approach).
Im really enjoying this first creative stage although Im aware there is still a lot of work to do.

04 April 2011, 04:28 AM
I like the second composition better, the close up looking good too!

04 April 2011, 05:19 PM

Brainstorming stage is finished.I think Im going for a color schemme of black white and cyan.I still have my doubts on the final composition,
I dont know if at the end of the road I will choose a dynamic or more relaxed pose.
But in fact my main problem now is where to put the logo...

04 April 2011, 03:25 PM
here is a quick sketch I forgot to show, this is not the path Ive decided to follow but
I think is ok. Hope you like it

04 April 2011, 11:19 PM
the idea is unique.
I love the color tone, cool.

Nice sketches

04 April 2011, 09:54 AM
I like a lot the second sketch of #22, the color combination and composition are great.
See you.

opsite, jesusguijarro, davidramonilustracion thanks a lot for your comments I take them into account.

here is my last texturing study. Once again this is not going in the right direction.
This steampunk style is very atractive to me but I think it doesnt fit well for a Goddess.
Nevertheless Im going to recycle this aproach for future designs, I Think its worth it.

04 April 2011, 06:41 PM
Nice updates.

I agree with you, maybe this kind of old rusty metal isn't the right choice for a goddess of celestial bodies, although weird experiments can lead to happy mistakes :)

04 April 2011, 07:11 PM
looks really like it, but if you feel that it's not going to be useful...

04 April 2011, 12:34 PM
Very nice texture, I'm with you, I more shinny not so rust texture will fit better

04 April 2011, 11:52 AM
this is my first approach to a side view of the goddess. :)

04 April 2011, 06:25 PM
I though it would be a male... Anyway looking good! I would like to see her face/head

05 May 2011, 04:17 PM
Finally I have reached the final step.
Ive opted for a Zbrush maquette in order to develop a clearer view of volumes and shapes.
This an optimal way to ensure the concept is transalatable into a game mesh.
I still need to polish my sculpting and then I think Im gonna put the logo in the croach area.
Nowadays Im a bit overwhelmed by my work at the studio but If I have enough spare time Id like to reach the dead line.
Regards and thanks a lot for the comments.

05 May 2011, 04:25 PM
Like it a lot, looking forward your final compose with background

05 May 2011, 06:36 AM
nice to see you keep working on it!

05 May 2011, 04:31 AM
the design is very creative and unique, wish to see more update!

05 May 2011, 09:56 AM
This is the last study before my final illustration.
I focused on the skin shader and camera point of view.
On Sunday I will post my final entry for the callenge

Thanks for the comments :)

05 May 2011, 05:34 PM
Hey, very nice, it 's almost finish, like DOF effect.

05 May 2011, 06:14 PM
Are you sure you are allowed to use 3d programs for a 2d image?

I think the design is really cool though

05 May 2011, 07:56 AM
Hi Pavel,
Im aware the final image has to be a 2d illustration and a 2d model sheet, but maybe you are right I am not allowed.

However, nowadays there are many paths and techniques to solve a 2d image, for example you can combine traditional hand drawing with the use of photo reference,3d meshes,
and rendered lights and atmospheres. At the end of the day I think it doesnt matter what techniques, resources, softwares and tools you rely on if you get an interesting concept.
The boundaries between 2d and 3d on this days are blurry, the best part of being a concept artist today is that technology is at your side. Enjoy it.

05 May 2011, 08:52 AM

This is the aspect I want for the arm.

05 May 2011, 11:02 AM
Finally I found a better place for the logo.
I think it fits perfectly.

05 May 2011, 06:33 PM
Ithink this is going to be the final illustration. I think it has a much more artistic feeling.
Almost finishing.

05 May 2011, 03:36 PM
A great pose between static and moving.
I love the concept and color.

05 May 2011, 03:45 PM
Like pose and logo placement, background IMHO need more work previous one was better but not fit for actual pose.

05 May 2011, 10:21 PM
This is my final work, good luck to everyone

05 May 2011, 10:04 AM
Really bold work, I like it, like a futuristic Mothman - good luck!

05 May 2011, 01:41 PM
Awesome, great job, hope you have luck, a greeting.

05 May 2011, 08:16 AM
