for some strange reason i never came across that issue. simple expample i have two cubes stacked on top of each other. i put a point light inside the upper cube. when i turn on cast shadow there should be no light inside the lower cube, right ? as long as i have a non reflective shader that is so, but when i use a blinn or mia i get some sort of reflections.

Select your object(s) and make sure it's set to cast/receive shadows in the renderstats...
