First time posting in the gallery, after getting the suggestion in the Cinema 4D forum where I posted it first.

A South-East Asian carnivorous nepenthes plant, modelled in Cinema 4D R8.2, textured in Bodypaint R2 using photo scans and manually editing the maps. SSS simulated using Translucency Pro v1.1. HDRI + additional lighting. X-Frog tropical plants for background.

Thanks for viewing, comment welcome!

stunning, but you could turn down the specularity on the plant

Thanks themonke. I actually prefere it with the contrasts given by the high specularity, to add to the dreamy/moist atmosphere to further enhance the SSS.

Hello Peter. This really is a fantastic render. It deserves respect and adulation. I'm such a beginner but have always kept an eye on your renders and have seen an artist who has made great strides in the last few months. Your modeling and texturing skills have improved to the point where it's almost hard to believe. I wish I had the patience to sit down and read the BP manual. I have it sitting right in front of me but just can't muster the strength (both physical and mental) to pick it up. ;-) Anyway, absolutely fantastic lighting and texture work here. Much respect from me. -- 3d_e

This picture works very well ! Maybe the "flower" misses some translucidity... But stills very nice !

Wow... good work there. But is that a ladybird at the lid of that plant??

I actually tried it, but adding translucency does wash out some texture details and some of the specularity. So I had to compromise.
