View Full Version : Dominance War V-3D-Picaboo-God of Insanity

I have been looking into DW5 since it started and was playing around in my head if I should try it too.
The idea is about a god that was formerly a god of wisdom and peace. When his people started to fight each other he tryied to stop them and went Insane because he couldnt.
Here are some "concepts". (dont worry, I dont think there will much more pictures)
I will post the base mesh later this day.
posting my newest pics in the first post aswell
here are the pics of the redesign in zbrush

As thretened, the first steps of the basemesh. :)
The next step is a quick jump to zbrush to have a look if the mesh works as intended and to make sure that the next attachments are going to fit to it.
I am planing an open straitjacket and to put the forum sign on his back.

Looks interesting, I especially like the mesh but maybe you should try to plan out some more details first to make him more "godlike"
I know its hard, but it's also great fun to play with some more forms.
Wish you good luck!

Hey Zykras thanks for your reply.
You are right. I had some ideas before but with your advise in mind I tryed something new.
I added the straitjacket as I said before. I put some giant needles in his back he uses to "play" with friends. :)
Also I have been thinking about your advise to make him more godlike and i was thinking: what does a god usually have? A temple wouldnt fit in here. Prayers would be difficult aswell. But a highpriest, that is possible.
I call him Harvey (at first) :)
Before the god fell and went insane he was the highest priest of his all his followers.
When the god went insane he killed his former highpriest because he felt betrayed.
In his powerfull position, the highpriest of the god of wisdom and peace should have tried to keep the peace and to help protect the people. But he didnt.

Ahhh nice ^^
I really like characters with details and weird/unique concepts :D
But I don't know if it's a good idea to include another character, I really love the idea behind this but it's much more work and it's like 2 characters for one god. I'm not sure if this is ... allowed and how much tris this new character wil generate.
But if it's okay by the rules, you should definately keep this idea! An insane god torturing his slave in chains? -> awesome

Good modelling. He doesnt feel like a god to me though. maybe he needs mutations galore and extra faces or something? Although I may be wrong.

Zykras: I was just planing the head floating at the chain behind him. I dont want to make two characters. :)
As far a I know a pet is fine as long as it doesnt kill the polycount.
Spazmortis: I will keep that in mind. May be I can find something.

A floating head like that could be weird ... to me it would seem like an unfinished model I guess (but maybe thats just me)
Personally I would place the head somwhere else, maybe dragging behind him? Although thinking about it a floating had in a different pose could be cool too ... well, let's see what you come up with ^^
And this "godlike"-issue is a big problem with this contest ... I admit that he is not really godlike but I already like this concept. Making characters godlike is very difficult without just adding "mass and cool stuff"
There are a lot of characters that I really like but that don't really look godlike ... And I don't know if I would like the changes that are necessary.
But then again, it's a contest with rules and trying to figure out how to make things godlike without having too much cliché is a challenge in and on itself.

Hi guys, just reading what you have been posting, i have to agree with the godlike problem, maybe is because the elements are common in this world in shape and size... maybe if this god have a bigger size than a regular person, or the knifes looks weird, magical... or maybe the shape of the body of the god is more twisted, showing the feel in his own body.
Over the floating head, i think that if he has the face in his hand, like a weapon, staff... or somthing that looks more like and accessorie will take away the idea of second char or pet.
Anyway, is a good work and gratz for that man.
Godspeed and cya later.

Thanks for your comments. I will definetly change the shape of the knifes and needles in the back.
The floating head in his hand is also a very nice idea. I will keep that in mind when I pose him.
But I was thinking that the head is always a bit behind him and only coming in front when he wants to talk to someone. :)
But I still have some real trouble to make this guy more godlike. I have to change the legs and feet. I dont like them at all. They dont seem to fit to the character.
Lets hope I can fix both problems with a great idea. :D

I finally had an idea to change the legs. Sculpts coming soon :)
