I just started today
This is what I have so far. Its very early days, and the design may change alot. I will post the sketches one I get onto a scanner.

Heres an update
03 March 2011, 04:55 AM
My concept wasnt really working out in 3d so I decided to go a bit nuts.
03 March 2011, 01:20 PM
ahahah? very good concept! i like it
03 March 2011, 05:52 PM
Very cool design man, diggin it. Love how the scale is shaping up. My only suggestion would be making a less human face and going even more turtle/dragon (wider or smaller eyes, further apart, perhaps on even on the sides of the head).
Other than that, excited to see more.

03 March 2011, 01:22 PM
Great idea, reminds me on Utwe from Kungfu Panda, an old, wise, calm turtle. Very cool design.
03 March 2011, 01:25 PM
You guys are such an inspiration ... I really love the design and his expression - I'm a god, lulz.
03 March 2011, 04:33 PM
nice concept and sculpt dude ...........;)

class work. I do not know at all like a man similar charactersbut you have a turtle. But here I am, too, decided not to make a man. While in the process
04 April 2011, 12:09 AM
Retopo time! Yippee!
Ive done the retopo but there is still a lot to go over and tweak
04 April 2011, 12:15 PM
like your exotic approach - very cool. i would invest some extra time in his body language and mimic. right now he has an expression of a stoned one that makes him look very innocuous and a bit foolish :)
04 April 2011, 12:25 PM
Ok sweet. Do you think its best to pose now? I was going to do a simple rig in maya for the pose and facial expression. If it is best to do the posing in the sculpting program then maybe I should. Its just that it may be harder to texture because I wont be able to use symmetry if its posed. (Using 3d coat)
04 April 2011, 05:41 PM
I'd do the primary pose with a rig that you can zero out into T Pose if you need to readjust the model / uvs / texture. Then for your final pose/submission, go in and tweek the verts to improve the static mesh. But keeping your guy in T pose long enough will make texturing far easier.
04 April 2011, 06:48 PM
no, just keep going :) i just wanted to mention his expression before it will be to late. of course you can do the posing and everything in the last step of your process or in the middle to get a better feel for the result.
04 April 2011, 10:22 PM
Ok thanks for the advice guys. I will keep all of this in mind.
04 April 2011, 11:08 AM
great worK! I like his face expression as it is, like he knows some secret that we don't :)
04 April 2011, 08:41 PM
This is Awesome!
At first i was concerned it might not have punch or emit power.... but boy was i wrong!
this is fantastic work.
nice use of the CG society logo
the benevolent expression on the face?....love it.
It's like it's saying "what will be will be." then takes a whisp of its fin and the universe changes.
04 April 2011, 10:25 PM
you're all done quickly. what to do next will?
04 April 2011, 06:53 PM
I love this concept. It makes me think of the old myth that says the world is sitting on the back of a giant cosmic turtle.
04 April 2011, 10:03 PM
Thanks for all the positive feedback guys :)
I havnt been able to get much time with my cosmic turtle dragon lately so I have slowed down a little.
I have refined the retopo as much as I can and I have almost completed the uv's
Texture time very soon.
04 April 2011, 08:16 AM
genious idea man, I love it! definitely following this
04 April 2011, 06:19 AM
Here is an update of my model. I am texturing right now and playing with the colours. a bit too bright I know, I am thinking indian god.
Crit please. Make it nasty if you need to :)
04 April 2011, 09:55 PM
Hi Adam, i hope its not against some rule to use same or very similar color pattern. I was also planing to use black armor with golden/silver ornaments and blue skin.
04 April 2011, 06:08 AM
I dont see why it would matter. I am probably going to change them anyway so go for it :)
04 April 2011, 05:31 AM
04 April 2011, 05:53 AM
Ohh I like the new shell! What happened to the blue turtle? I felt the idea of the the god having muted blue/purple/pink skin was pretty cool and original.
Looks fantastic either way though, Adam :)
04 April 2011, 07:00 AM
nice! its alot better than the previous one u did
04 April 2011, 01:54 AM
Sweet! Those colours look way better dude

04 April 2011, 03:41 PM
Liking the color scheme on his chest plate! The red veins on the shell, meant to be glowing at final render?
04 April 2011, 07:08 PM
am i the only one who didn't like the color ? because for me the color somehow too dark for this kind of god, i think. . . for some reason it's just didn't fit with it. or maybe the outline make it more look like it's a mechanic not organic anymore, and the shell i don't think you should give a volcanic crack on it it just give a sense of chaos which is really against the purpose of the character.
04 April 2011, 11:03 PM
Here is my progress so far. I still need to make the planets, plinth and pose him.
04 April 2011, 05:12 AM
Good sir I think you just won dominance war. This thing is awesome.
04 April 2011, 05:28 AM
WOW! that is the best reply ever :D you just made my day.
Although I am very sure you are wrong :P
04 April 2011, 05:46 AM
04 April 2011, 03:23 PM
Im not sure about this. Any crits would be helpful.
04 April 2011, 06:42 PM
This guy is really coming together! Some things I noticed:
-the scale / framing of your latest colored comp feels off. You can make him feel HUGE, by shifting the camera around or playing with focal lenght. Look into other flying big things like:
Independance day mother ship:
District 9 Mothership:
Video Game boss:
Shadow of a Colossus:
-The celestrial bg is a cool idea, but the vibrant purple and pattern seems to distract from the piece. I think less is more in terms of a 'space' bg. To help show vastness:
-He could be 'swimming' through stars or nebula like a turtle digging his nest, like giving birth to a solar system:
-Or craddling a growing star with his front flippers watching a new star be born:
Some ideas to ponder about. Looking forward to seeing more!
04 April 2011, 10:45 PM
Thanks heaps for the feedback, now hopefully I can pull it off.
05 May 2011, 11:40 AM
He's looking awesome! Did you take some inspiration from Terry Pratchett's Discworld for this guy? Because he would be proud.
05 May 2011, 05:36 PM
nice i love the last update !
05 May 2011, 03:37 AM
And more. what do you think of him eating earth?
05 May 2011, 04:41 AM
That is kick ass man!
Really diggin the environment especially the colours and the glow.
He looks to peaceful to be snacking down on the earth i reckon.
05 May 2011, 02:43 AM
Almost there. Here is what I have so far.
05 May 2011, 02:29 PM
Here is my construction image
05 May 2011, 03:40 PM
This is sweet, love the vibrant colors!
05 May 2011, 05:20 PM
I didn't notice he was holding earth until you mentioned it, personally i think the glow on the hand is a bit to much.
Looks pretty cool though.
05 May 2011, 05:26 PM
looking sick man, moving fast! :applause:
05 May 2011, 10:21 PM
Nice one! That was some fast action :) Best of luck to you sr.
