View Full Version : Modeling Threading

Are there any tutorials out there on how to do machined threading, like you'd see on a screw or the top of a bottle or jar? I can't figure out a decent way to do it. All that comes to mind is modeling the threads as a separate object, than either keeping it separate (resulting in unrealistic sharp edges where the objects meet) or merging it in point by point (way too time consuming on many screws).

I'm using Maya. Thanks in advance.
