View Full Version : particle fluids emitter radius control?

03 March 2011, 10:19 PM
Wondering if anyone has noticed that one cannot control the size of the emitter when particles are driving fluid density, temp, etc. I made an image to quickly show what I am experiencing - no matter what the resolution of the container the emission point is always the same when it's a particle. I tried all the radius controls of all the different particle types nothing changed the emission size. I also tried instancing poly spheres and using that to drive the fluid but it appears that is an invalid emission source. I know I can script poly spheres onto locations of particles as they travel through space but...seriously? I've got tons of various particle systems set up to drive fluids, not looking forward to having to script in all of that just to have this control....surely there is a better way.

I've tested this in 2011 and 2012beta with static and autoresized containers.!

Have you tried fluffing with the min/max distance on the emitter node?

try changing the fluid drop off to about 20. When I emit particles into a fluid container that is usually the first thing I go for.

min/max on the emitter - I didn't even notice that when it was grayed out - that did the trick!

I'll also play with the drop off for more control - good advice

Thanks for all your input - this dynamics forum is a world of help because of it!

Set the emitter type to omni, as that is how a particle fluid emitter behaves, regardless of the emitter type. It won't affect the emission but will change the greying out in the attribute editor.
