View Full Version : need help rigging in 3dsmax2010

My name is Le'Verne Martin I have been using 3dsmax for some time now and I am having serious issues with rigging. I have some models that keep getting bad rotations on limbs and wiring and constraints are giving me a lot of issues. Are there any pointers you guys could give me with rigging and constraints? if anyone could give me a hand i would appreciate it.

by the way does anyone know who wrote the rigging tutorial that came with 3dsmax 5,6,7 it was a good tut and i cannot get my hands on that tut anywhere.

Are you able to provide a more detailed example of your problems? "serious issues" and "bad rotations" is pretty vague.

Right off the bat though, try to avoid non-uniform scaling on both your bones and mesh. I always tend to Reset XForms on my mesh before skinning. For wire parameters and constraints I use "Freeze Transforms".

Two videos that may be of some use:

(basic wire parameter setup, using Freeze Transforms to ensure no "oddness" in rotations)

(A speedy little rig using IK's/Constraints/Splines as controllers)
