View Full Version : Dominance War V - 3D - kogen - Goddess of the sea

03-22-2011, 12:51 PM
Hei folks,

I'm pretty glad to participate this year with you guys from CGTalk. I hope we claim the leadership this year and wanna wish good luck to you guys and gals.

Since everything in this contest is pretty dark and gloomy I'd like to stick with something that might bring back some life and hope into the dark, destructed DW-universe, something that seemed to be abandoned since demons and and warmachines from the former DW marched over the grounds... nature and life...

Here is the latest video:

Allright, I'd like to share my concept with you too before I start my holidays.

Have a nice weekend,

Thank you guys. :)

Digiegg: I knew this question would arise, and actually I wanted to write something like "she doesn't need to move cause "mother nature is everywhere" but just in that moment I had another idea I'll probably sketch out over the weekend. Good hint.

raultabajara: Thanks, mate but I guess "comic is forbidden" this time if I got the rules of DW5 right.

Okay, so here we go. Since it's a "'Rise' of God"-contest. I thought about a rising of that god of nature and so here we are. I want to achieve that kind of look that she is about to rise from that tree trunk... let's jump to 3D. :)

Hmmmmm, actually another idea floated around my mind, which I like more and which I really like to bring to life. So I think I will kick the idea of a nature goddess and switch to something that is more interesting to me. A goddess of the sea.

looks awesome! is the eel going to be her pet?

04-03-2011, 03:27 AM
Hey glad to see you've entered mate! I like the last idea better than the others actually as well.
good luck!

Allright so let's move on:

x-fade: Thanks... actually I've just put the eel there because I thought I fill the white space on the right :D A simple eel would be too boring for a good as a pet, wouldn't it? Maybe I could switch to a kind of deep-sea-fish-creature... if I'd do so.

SpaceTik: Thanks... but you didn't like the tree-gals :( I'll see how far I'll come.

Here is the new WIP. It's still kind of construction yard on every part of the body except the face. Normally I like to finish the face first before I move on to the rest.

good work man.

I read the ocean in those shapes without any doubt. Just thinking about the fingers a little more larger (know is wip), and tohse shoulders... maybe higher.

Anyway, good work!

your tree gals were awesome! I just feel you can do a lot more with ocean girl. Just a personal thing. The eerie depth of the water, mystery and all that

great face mate, she looks serene.

Thanks guys, Victor I'll definitely work on the body forms, they were not finished in the last image but thanks for the hint with the shoulders.

Here is the latest image I've created a couple of minutes ago. The octopus hair felt to "oldskool" for me... so I've come up with that kind of shell-hat.

Good night everyone.

The kind of sculpting I like. Not overly detailed. Nice concepts too.

04-27-2011, 07:02 AM

Okay, I've been creating the Lowpoly during Easter and now moving on the colors. I've finished the body and the head now there's some need to paint the coral on her back, the eyes as well as the bubbles. Oh yeah and there is still a kind of "weapon" missing... I'm aware of that fact.

04-27-2011, 07:39 AM
interesting work...
a bit to blueish... ;)

05-03-2011, 07:34 AM

so I've changed the color-scheme a bit more to the "CGS"-scheme. Now I'm there's still some stuff missing (yeah where is the logo??? ;) ) I guess I will add some additional fun-stuff to the goddess, if I find the time. Otherwise... pedestal here I come.

Thanks for watching.

pretty neat! i quite like the new color scheme . haha we r kinda doing the same goddess of the Sea. lets strive forward to completion! =)

05-16-2011, 07:53 AM

so here we go, since I had spend so many hours I really wanted to create this little turn-table video.

Check this Youtube-Link (

Final images are coming soon. :)

Cheers "ko'gen".

Okaaaay, I'd like to declare it as "done" (since an image is never final).

Mankind has been intoxicating the whole planet for so many years unable to understand that it is totally dependent on the sea and its creatures. Elyra - Goddess of the sea has held silence for so long and is now about to rise from the deep down below to wash out humanity with the whole wrath of the sea.

The final front- and back-pose...

Construction Sheet...

And finally the texture sheet:

Thanks for watching and commenting, thanks for the great challenge.

Cheers "ko'gen".
