View Full Version : Dominance War V - 2D - sjensen - God of Life

Decided to give this a go, just hoping I'll get something finished.
I'm doing a god of Life. This first sketch has it walking on a massive desolate planet but I'm doing another one where it is a lot smaller, maybe even microscopic.

Here's an update as well as some reference I'll be using. I want to give it a very organic/cellular look as if all living things were somehow based on this God.
After all life in the universe has been destroyed she's giving it one more chance deep in the oceans of a long dead planet.
Has a long way to go, I'm not really happy with the design of the face in particular but it'll do as a stand in for now.

Nice concept, I like the head and those branches stuff around it, looking forward how you'll develop it.
Really cool concept, like the approach that you taked for your god. The second sketch is really nice.
Good luck and waiting for more updates. Cheers!!

Thanks for the comments guys!
I've done a bit more work this afternoon. Played around with liquify to get different versions of the head. Not really sure I like either of them but any thoughts are appreciated?
Also don't like how I've lost the hands when they are meant to be a bit of a feature, hope to fix that as I clean it up.

Totally dig the Coral rift idea, would love to see some more leaf-branch like corals feathering about the char some more.
Cool updat :) The difference on both faces are really subtle, is difficult to choice one, I think both can work well.
My concern now is that the silhouette of bottom right hand is lost on the body shape. Perhaps a more strong rim light and contrast over that hand can help, but think the better solution is a new position over the background, like the other arms, for a more esay read of the shape. Only a comment :)
Great work and looking forward for more updates. Cheers!!

I think you have some rad shapes going on in here. I wonder, though, if you could push the design of the face to be more "other worldy". Not a criticism, just an impulse I had.

it is hard to tell the faces apart in the two images, I was switching in between them in PS and it was a lot more noticeable. Agreed about the hand.
Here's a small update on the just the face, although I think I will take Daniel's advice and try to push it further. Thanks

Make sure to keep the sex of the god ambiguous, it's working in your favor!

Been a bit busy so haven't been able to get as much done on this as I would like but here's the latest. I'm not really sure about some of the shapes but I kind of like the surface effect I'm getting at the moment.
