03 March 2011, 05:52 AM
Hello my fellow artists ! I must say that I'm really happy to make my part of this awesome contest second time and I hope everyone will have amazing works to lead us too victory.

I wishing everyone the best of luck ! :arteest:

UDATE: 17.04.2011

Small sketch of idea how the goddess might look. Still thinking.

03 March 2011, 12:04 PM
Hi, the sketch looks great! It is definitely a fresh take on how to make a god, should it end with a flying head without a torso. Keep on sketching and good luck!

03 March 2011, 02:00 PM
Fantastic, i love this face, very good work, i can fall in love for her

03 March 2011, 12:04 PM
Darkonerster - Well no, but its very interesting idea, thank you.

Sk8erWolf - I'm delight that you like her and thank you. :*

Well its weekends and I doodle little bit more to see how my idea turn out and + I think I will stick to Goddess of Hope its very romantic, lol. :arteest:

Nice line work! But may I ask why she looks so angry in that last picture?

Nice line work! But may I ask why she looks so angry in that last picture?

Her face expression is the same as in first image :D

03 March 2011, 03:17 PM
the headgear makes her look angry the last pic

03 March 2011, 04:20 PM
Very nice line work, look forward to seeing more

Phoenix-06 - thank you and good luck to you.

Ok, before I go to sleep I will do some update plus I'm extremely sleepy so I will write a about my goddess tomorrow. :wip:

EDIT - Previous year I was focusing too much on everything so I just barely made in time, but this year I want to make something simple in clothe/armor designing not as simple as image below, but almost like that. The idea in those concepts is just to put my main shape so I can decide which one would be better. I want to focus on illustration composition, because its very difficult (in my thoughts) to show something godly.
The weapon going to be the butterfly in box. Butterfly symbolize hope and resurrection by some religions.

03 March 2011, 10:51 PM
Very cool outfit, the segmented look of the clothing or tattoo markings work very well. I also like the butterfly in the box hehe. Also the gloves are very super hero like.
Really coming along nicely.

03 March 2011, 02:42 AM
nice design of your god, keep it up, i like it too, cant wait to see the next update

03 March 2011, 08:17 AM
Phoenix-06 - Thank you, its more like armor funny when you think about that, but this year I will going to do minimalism I want to try that. The butterfly in box might be a weapon, but I will think about that.

DerrickSong - Thank you my fellow artist, good luck to you :*

03 March 2011, 11:41 AM
Excellent work! The second design really looked ways more evil but you fixed that in the last one. Hah, butterfly in a box is rather a unique weapon. Although design-wise I really like it, does it also go with your topic? The box can be seen as limitation or a cage in general and that doesn't sound much like hope. Possibly sketching the box with less defined edges in their middle could help? The incomplete halo ring above her head in your very first concept looks great, I would suggest using it.

I would give the last concept 8 out of 10. 2 points out for the boxed butterfly and no halo :p

Otherwise cool concepts. Wasn't expecting her to get a body before but I must admit that the latest character looks more noble/godlike. On a footnote, maybe making her shoes more softer or removing them entirely could give it more of a floating, neigh levitating feeling to it. Instead of walking on the ground she would rather glide along it because of her wings.

Keep up the great work!

03 March 2011, 06:36 PM
Hello ! Today I had some time so I quickly made this sketch for illustration. The idea is that she is floating, I have some really interesting ideas, but I need to try it before I can place in illustration.

Darkonerster - Thank you for ideas I really appreciate it.

03 March 2011, 09:13 AM
Nice line work ! : )

03 March 2011, 09:57 AM
I like it a lot. Waiting for more

03 March 2011, 10:28 AM
Hey there, the progress looks really good! I will be probably nitpicking now but you could stretch the left hand out a little bit more downwards and the left wing could do with the one extra feather between the extending line and the remaining wing. That could give you a nice 45 degree rotated S curve between your wings. Just a suggestion as any ;) Good luck!

03 March 2011, 03:35 PM
lepilo and davidramonilustracion - Thank you !

Darkonerster - Thank you for suggestion ! :)

Well haven't work on illustration, because of schools, but here is close up of face that I'm working on right now. :arteest:

03 March 2011, 03:06 PM
Ok, it looks like I need to update my process, not much to say, but I personally like how it looks so far. C ad C are welcome ! :D

03 March 2011, 03:28 PM
I love the pose, she looks beautiful :) good job.. keep it up

03 March 2011, 03:32 PM
Thank you very much I will  !

03 March 2011, 03:23 AM
Cool concept and nice painting. Like the idea of the wings on the head, put a great touch in the design of your godess.
Perhaps the armor/outfit strips on the body and legs need to totally warp the contour of the shape body to gain in volume and perspective. The root of wings looks in the pelvis more than in the upward part of the back and look a bit odd, only a comment :)

Nice work and waiting for more updates!

03 March 2011, 07:09 PM
Looking really good! My only crit at this point is that she has a bit large feet, but I see it's still at a sketch phase down there at this point.
And one suggestion that could make ur goddess a bit more grand, if she would have her head facing a bit up, not so "shy" and almost hiding it behind her shoulder. After all, she is a goddess of hope, full of confidence. So I would suggest lifting her head up and exposing some more of her neck as well.
And I wish u all the best in the challenge :)

04 April 2011, 10:48 AM
Ferx - Thanks and thank you for your suggestion/critics, I hope I understand right and fix some of the errors. :)

NinjaA55N - Thank you too, hehe you where right about feet they where little bit to big didn't notice and very right about head, because I realize its to much down and when I put it little bit up it looks more natural. I wish you all the best in challenge to you too !

Ok, haven't update for week, because I was very busy, but luck for me I have one week free for now on and can work on my goddess.
So far I was working slowly, but in a result I have this right now. C and C are welcome !
Plus thinking about story too. Left wing will not be behind cape it will be in front like in previous update. :)

EDIT: I most apologize for my extremely horrible grammar mistakes that I notice right now.

04 April 2011, 12:14 PM
Beautiful coloring. It's really improving.

04 April 2011, 01:30 PM
Looks great! Keep it up!

04 April 2011, 05:10 PM
great color palette and composition I like it very much:thumbsup:

04 April 2011, 12:22 PM
davidramonilustracion, Darkonerster and Gyorkland - Thank you so much :)

Hello !

Nothing big I can update, but I repaint wings I didn't like them and change some elements. C and C are welcome !

04 April 2011, 12:40 PM
the wings look great!

04 April 2011, 02:55 AM
The tips of her toes needs some more wings. ^_- jk jk.

Have you try rotating her just a tiny bit? right now she is almost standing straight to the camera. I think the composition would be more powerful if she is lay back a bit, almost like in a sitting post with her legs straight out. rotate about 30 degree counter-clockwise would be enough.

Cant wait to see the next step of the renders. Besure to re-lid the lighting around her dress in the torso area. every other area looks very cool atm.

04 April 2011, 05:28 AM
The wings are fantastic!

04 April 2011, 04:13 PM
freakyfir and PavelSokov - Thank you !

PuiArt - I try, but its not changing to much, but anyway thank you.

Ok, I must update my process and so far I think I'm done I have no idea what can I add more and I'm not willing to change anything for example - some body parts. Maybe some little touch-up, because there are a lot of time and I need to make modeling sheet too. Well I will say the obvious one that my work isn't very impressive and I mean its simple really simple, but for me I happy just to take part of this awesome challenge and see what others artists are cooking. Keep it up team cgsociety !

Close up

Nice work, the feathers are really well rendered and the symbol above her head looks good. Not keen on the position of her right hand, though, it think the arm needs to be straighter, more poised and purposeful.

04 April 2011, 09:27 PM
A small update, I don't know if it is a good idea to add more elements, but what the hell :D

04 April 2011, 11:46 PM
Wow, every time I look at the update to your post I am amazed by the progress. Keep it up! My only nitpicking comment would be to either put the yellow angelic character closer or a bit more distanced from the main one only by moving it slightly so that the hand is a bit more within the visual space of the body or the wing (for the increased distance by half of the yellow figure's arm). Good luck!

04 April 2011, 04:26 PM
Only trying to help, but I liked more the version without the new character. She distracts me from the main character.
Anyway it is a great work.
See you.

04 April 2011, 11:08 PM
Sketches are nice and the idea is unique.
I love the color tone.

Regards, :applause:

Thank you everyone for comments ! My entry is done, not the best, but I like how it turn out very simple as I planned. For me I was happy to just take my part of this awesome contest and despite the fact that my entry is not the coolest one, I will wish everyone the best of luck and I hope that our team will win some medal.

All the best !
