This will be my first 3d challenge, looking forward to it.
My idea is a hybrid man / lion god, a primal warrior fueled by rage.
Concepts coming soon.
Can't wait to see everyones
Good luck :D

Ay thanks for the love and double posts :P
Early concept attached below.
This was just to get an idea about the body, went through a couple of iterations.
Next step is to obviously add armor or clothing and details, which im still thinking about.

Updated concept below.
Starting to more resemble a warrior now, i didn't want to overdo the armor too much.
Still not sure about the colour scheme, just using different tones of the CGS colour palette.
Thinking about giving him some sort of weapon but i still believe he would just use his own claws in battle.
Probably will tweak him a bit more.

Another quick update
Tweaked the armor, tried to give it a bit more detail.
He began to take on a Spartan-esque theme so i modified a Spartan sword into a polearm for his weapon. May give him a helmet as well.
Start on 3d mesh soon yay :D

God of Roarrr! I love the title and the design. I'm interested to see how the lion might use weapons when it has claws like that. :) Can't wait to see the 3D mesh!

Final concept done, pretty happy with how it turned out
Added a bit more detail on the armor and attire
Started on a quick base mesh, here's the wip
Need to play around with the shape a bit more, needs definition
Going to be rigging this character as well for a future animation project
Any feedback would be appreciated

yo man, ok two things.
- first gratz, all the parts in the char looks armonious, and the armor looks like a set, the char can be taked as god anytime.
- second, about modeling, maybe you can break the moden in differents parts, for example, having this base mesh, you can cut out the head, arms, legs, etc... and in that way you can face every challenge of modeling more easy.

Cheers Victor :D
Update on the base mesh, given him a face and some claws now.
Also tried to clean up the topology.
I'm also thinking of slightly changing his armor to include a chestpiece and a different pauldron design. He is sort of resembling more of a spartan warrior now. Still playing around with this in my head though.

Really awesome claws :)
Can't wait to see him fully armored!

Here is a revised concept. Tried something a bit different with the pauldron and chest armor, though still not sold on it but i think its nearly there. Tried to make the armor more brass-like, also added a shield on his back. He will still have his massive polearm, probably on his back as well behind the shield.
As for the base mesh, cleaned it up a bit more. Added the mane and started on the bracer. I'm going to give the mane more of a sculpted look rather than with poly planes or something similar. Next stops will be the paw pads, fangs and the rest of the armor.

Very good design, is that a shell on his back? because i was about to suggest that a cool sword or weapon would look nice, but then i thinked that may be, he fights just with his claws...now that i see the shell, a waepon would not be out of place :)

It's a shield on his back. Going for more of a Spartan Warrior look.
We would use his claws and his weapon.
04 April 2011, 03:32 AM
Added the armor and pauldrons to the base mesh. Still tweaking the details before i go into sculpt the normal map. Still need to do the fangs, tongue, paw pads (whatever they are called lol) and then the lower body.
Appreciate the feedback :D

Added some fangs, paw pads and shin plates.
Cleaned up some more geo as well.

He's coming along nicely man! I'm not sure if its the perspective of your screenshot, or your model, but his feet look kind of tiny in proportion to the rest of his body. Everything else is lookin' good though. Keep it up!

Ive adjusted the proportions of the hands and feet now, made them bigger.
Also just started the sculpt, early test on the mane and head.
Still got a lot of work to do :arteest:
05 May 2011, 04:38 AM
hey man i saw your god of roar here  ))))
05 May 2011, 06:20 AM
Lol that is awesome, great stuff
05 May 2011, 09:42 AM
Another WIP update
05 May 2011, 09:52 AM
Wow, that looks amazing!! :)
05 May 2011, 01:02 PM
hey, nice concept.
i would suggest to include some bigger forms, muscles, folds... make him strong, raw.
at the moment he looks very cartoony because of the tubular extremities. your micro-detail pass with zbrush is not so important as solid shapes and forms. maybe you can give it a try and play around with some bigger form changes :)
