How can check whether faces of two polygons are intersecting?

I already found intersection using bounding box, But I want to implement a more precise method. So is there any classes to handle intersection of polygon faces?

You could do it via Python, I believe, or simpy find someone who has already scripted a solution:

Thank You for the quick reply. I want to write a plugin which can detect intersection of faces while translating a mesh. So can you suggest the maya api that I need to refer for implementing this method. I am very new to maya programming and I dont know python, I only know cpp.
