Hey Guys,
I have been trying for a long time and have looked up a lot but just can not seem to find an answer on how to take out an Object Id pass in maya. I want to render an object id pass so I can control the objects in comp. Its fairly simple in Max with its inbuilt Object Id function but since my project is in Maya thats why I wanted to do in there. Please do help me out as I feel a bit lost here.

For a similiar reason I wrote a simple shader for mentalray to use it with the writeBuffer nodes:
labelShader ( Maybe it is a bit helpful.

Of course you still have to assing all the miLabel attributes to the objects you want to write into the label buffer.
