View Full Version : how to give the motion of a simple cloth to a complex shape?

hi.as you know its impossible to give cloth to a complex mesh.so in attend to making it cloth ,we must to duplicate it and reduce its vertexes.then make that simple shape cloth and after that give its motion to that complex shape. but how is this possible? to take the motion of something and give it to another one in maya?

try using a wrapDeformer

You can achieve this with a wrap deformer. The geometry which is simulated has to be very clean and even, no modelled wrinkles. It also has to representate the high resolution mesh as accurate as possible.
The motion of the simulated geo can then be applied to the high res Mesh: first select High Res then Low res and Create Deformer >Wrap deformer.
