View Full Version : Missing MEL tab in script editor - Maya 2010

02 February 2011, 12:04 AM
...i am having difficulty loading a CamFrame Counter for my Character Animation class... I uploaded a screen capture to show my script editor above my instructors from his video tutorial... you can see that my script editor only seems to have the Python tab available... when i type "rehash;" & hit enter on the keypad it spits back "# Error: NameError: name 'rehash' is not defined"

...i'm guessing this is because MEL is not enabled in my script editor... however, i have the faintest clue how to solve this discrepancy... i'm hoping you can help...

Ultimately, i am wondering whether or not to reinstall Maya 2010, i have the educational licensed version that i purchased last year... i'm hoping that maybe this would just set all the parameters back to the factory sets... however, i'm wondering if there's any harm in doing this... i figure i would just move my previous files to a new folder & uninstall, then reinstall & hopefully the script editor will contain the MEL tab... any suggestions?

Thanks ever so kindly,

In your script editor in the menu go to:

Command -> New tab

Then choose for MEL.

There ya go. :)
