Okay here's the first look at my Pirate (W.I.P.).
Grypp is leader of the Fren Pirate League, dominating 3rd space, just the other side of Dakarty Prime.
Make sure your a hyper jump away before he stops smiling.

I have completed some morph taget tests for his head and they work well.

I will render detail shots tomorrow, there's still a lot of pirate detail to come, but if i don't put up know it won't be a w.i.p by the time I do.

Thats lookin good vertex. I really like the claw and glove design. The cloth and overall armour is nicely done. Think his head is too small, maybe a little? compaired to his arms? Also theres a seem on his stomach. Just some ideas :)

Hey! That's nicely done!

Cracks me up, though. Nasty, wicked, murderous glove, armour ready for hell, and a cute, cuddly face. Funny.

One place on your character that bothers me is the shoulders. I think you need more detail, one way or another; whether it's more armor in that area, muscle detail, or whatever.

Actually, his arms in general seem to be a bit under-detailed, as far as muscle mass goes. He's a big burly guy, but his biceps run directly into his elbow joint.

You could detail the hip pads and left shoulder armour, too.

I know this is our first look and you're probably still working on him.

Really nice start, though. Grypp is looking good. Can't wait to see him all gussied up.

Nice looking model. That huge robotic hand is really cool. One thing that might help it look a little more natural though is to tuck the thumb between the first two fingers rather than on the outside. Just my 2 cents. :)

Pascal, I new there was something that I had overlooked.
ACFred, point taken, i wasn't too worried about the arm detail as once the models finished there won't be a lot of bare arm showing.
Sigma, you might be right about the head, I started with a normally proportioned character and then increased the body and arm length to make him tall, I never really looked at the head again. I will do a test render with a bigger head.

This looks good ! But he doesn't look really friendly... i mean if i'd meet him in the street i would run away for sure !
Of course if i'd meet any of the challenger's aliens in the street i would run away so... :D

I have done started another detail pass, enlarged his head, added his pirate emblam to the shoulder pad and decided that the original boots didn't fit so have started constructing boots that go with the gauntlets.

Colours are blocked in although no maps are painted yet.

loads still to do.

Boots are nearly finished, just added chest armour to fix the shoulder guards to.

Finally added a tail (I think a pony tail would have been simpler)

a couple more days and its texturing and rigging.
