Walt Disney Animation Studios combines the best in artistry and storytelling with cutting-edge technology to bring wonderful new characters and adventures to the big screen for audiences around the world.

Our latest CG feature, "Tangled (", directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, is in theaters now! Our next Traditional feature, "Winnie the Pooh (", is directed by Steve Anderson and Don Hall; it debuts Summer 2011.

We are currently seeking a Modeler ( to join the Talent Development program at our Burbank, CA studios.

The Talent Development Artist Program is available for recent graduates of undergraduate or graduate programs (within three years of graduation date) for a 3 or 6 month paid position at Walt Disney Animation Studios. The Talent Development Artist Program offers a chance to understand the depth of your new skills, refine and strengthen key areas, and apply your talents in our real world environment. Under the guidance of a Disney Mentor you will be immersed in our world of art and technology while being trained on production work-flows and tools.

The next session will begin in March!


Create Blend Shapes and Facial Modeling
Build complex organic 3D characters and articulated set and prop models
Create character models constructed with polygonal, NURBS, and subdivision topologies to create high resolution surface models ranging from highly stylized cartoon characters to photo-realistic fantasy creatures
Create Sets and Props including: vehicles, buildings and master set environments. The level of mechanical articulation involved often leads set and prop modelers to rig the models they construct
Work well in a collaborative environment
Able to take direction from the Leads and Supervisors and feedback from the Directors


Bachelors degree or equivalent experience desired
Must have experience with Blend Shapes
Must have experience with Facial Modeling
A thorough understanding of 3-D computer programs such as Maya
Scripting (MEL, PERL, CSH) background a plus.
Previous experience with traditional 3D sculpting a plus
Strong knowledge of anatomy a plus
Strong problem solving skills and a good eye required
Proven ability to be detail oriented and to work efficiently within a production environment
Must be able to work in a collaborative environment, taking direction from the Model Lead, CG Supervisor and feedback from the Art Director and Director(s) as necessary
A reel including wireframes and turnarounds of workare requested for review. Additionally, please include a resume and a reel break down
