The Talent Development Artist Program is available for recent graduates of undergraduate or graduate programs (within three years of graduation date) for a 3 or 6 month paid position at Walt Disney Animation Studios. The Talent Development Artist Program offers a chance to understand the depth of your new skills, refine and strengthen key areas, and apply your talents in our real world environment. Under the guidance of a Disney Mentor you will be immersed in our world of art and technology while being trained on production work-flows and tools.
CG Effects Artists:
Effects Artists add natural, and sometimes supernatural phenomena, to an animated film. An understanding of physical dynamics and natural forces is key, as it aids in producing a believable world and setting the mood for the story. An Effects Animator must take direction easily, work well with an artistic team and deliver scenes in a timely fashion.
Applies procedural animation techniques to a variety of effects to simulate physical phenomenon
Responsible for designing and creating the look and development of computer generated FX animation (fire, crowds/flocking, fluids, smoke, etc.), simulations of natural phenomena, particle systems, procedural modeling, procedural animation, hard and soft body dynamics and other similar effects
Work with EFX Lead in designing technical approaches to projects or sequences
Participates as a team member in determining various design and technical solutions
BA degree in Art, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, related field or equivalent experience desired.
Experience with particle systems and other advanced techniques for the creation of natural phenomenon and other visual effects
Experience with commercial graphics packages including Maya and/or Houdini
Experience with scripting and programming, (C or C++, Perl or Python and MEL) and Linix operating system experience a plus
Exposure to shaders, lighting and compositing as well as Renderman a plus strong communication skills are required as well the ability to implement creative direction using the most efficient method
