View Full Version : Mental Ray rendering strange

In Maya I have a character that I attached armor to. The character and armor are now one mesh with two UV sets,1 for char and 1 for armor. The problem is that when I combine these two objects and render, I get a very strange deformity in mental ray. The model uses soften normals that render perfect when objects are not combined, but when combined the object renders very strange, also tested this in Unreal Engine and it is doing the same if not worse. Any ideas why the action of combining these objects is causing such a problem? I attached a picture.
